Anna Anna Wieslander has been appointed CEO of AlfaWall, which is jointly owned by Soya Group's subsidiary Wallenius Water and Alfa Laval. AlfaWall develops and sells PureBallast, a chemical-free ballast water treatment system for the shipping industry.
Anna Wieslander is currently Chief Operating Officer (COO) at Elonroad AB. She has previously held several senior positions within Alfa Laval, including Energy Division Manager at Alfa Laval Nordic, as well as General Manager PHE, Factory Manager OMSE, and Supply Unit Manager OMSEH/R at Alfa Laval AB. Anna Wieslander will take up her position as CEO of AlfaWall on 13 January 2025.
Ships transport over 90% of the world's freight and use up to five billion tonnes of ballast water each year. Organisms can survive in ballast water, which allows them to be transported across the world's oceans by ships, establishing a reproductive population in another part of the world, where they can outcompete native species, potentially causing the collapse of existing ecosystems.
Wallenius Water and Alfa Laval have, together under AlfaWall's operations, developed PureBallast, a chemical-free ballast water treatment system.
