Oliver Solberg has kicked off Rally Sweden 2025 with impressive speed, firmly asserting himself as the driver to beat in the WRC2 class. After friday’s seven special stages, the Swedish Print Sport driver has won six out of eight possible stages, clearly showcasing his skill and determination to secure a third consecutive victory.

Despite his strong lead, Solberg remains focused on fine-tuning his performance. "Even though I have a strong lead, I’m still getting used to the car. I’m starting to feel more and more comfortable with it as the event goes on, but today was a good day. The conditions were tough at times, but we managed to push through," he said after his dominant performance.

Having claimed victory in the past two editions of Rally Sweden, Solberg has become a dominant force on the snow-covered roads in Västerbotten. This year, he looks poised to continue his success, impressing with a stable and controlled drive behind the wheel of his new Toyota.

With a solid lead heading into the final 11 stages of the weekend, it seems Solberg is on track to secure yet another win. If he maintains his current pace, few competitors can challenge him for the top spot. "I’m really looking forward to tomorrow’s stages, they look fantastic, and I’m aiming to keep the lead," he added, as he sets his sights on the win.

For the people of Umeå, where Rally Sweden has become a central part of daily life, Solberg is not just a competitor, but an icon. With his relentless drive and ambition, he has become one of the most recognized figures in the competition, and there’s little doubt he has his eyes set on another triumph in Umeå.

Despite much of the competition still to come, and icy roads yet to be mastered, Solberg has already made a strong statement. He has claimed victory in every stage he’s competed in so far, positioning himself as the clear favorite for the weekend ahead. Together with his British co-driver Eliott Edmondson, Solberg leads the WRC2 class as the event moves into the final three stages around Vännäs, just a few miles west of Umeå, during Saturday’s leg.
