Medicvent secures major Hospital contracts in Sweden and France

Four of ten Medicvent employees are standing in a store room with the Centralsystem SMART. Medicvent develops and manufactures solutions designed to evacuate harmful gases from healthcare environments: Melker Persson, International Business Developer, Mattias Sandström, Product Manager, Sofia Lindgren, QA/RA, Roger Folkhage, CEO.

Medicvent has secured two major hospital contracts in Sweden and France, with a combined value of approximately SEK 16 million. The awards follow a year of 11 percent revenue growth and mark an important step in the company’s international expansion.

"These contracts provide both an immediate financial contribution and highly valuable reference projects for our continued growth", says Roger Folkhage, CEO of the Umeå-based company.

Roger Folkhage joined Medicvent as CEO in the spring of last year with a clear mandate to expand the business and increase its international market share. One year on, he notes that the start of his assignment has been highly successful. Revenue increased by 11 percent in 2025, and the beginning of 2026 has been even stronger.

Nantes chose Medicvent
During this period, Medicvent secured two major tenders linked to new hospital projects. The first concerns the new emergency hospital in Västerås, Västmanland, Sweden, while the second relates to the reconstruction of the university hospital in Nantes, France, a project with a total budget of €1.25 billion.

"Together, the two contracts are worth around SEK 16 million. The hospital in Västerås is currently the largest hospital project in Sweden, while the Nantes project is one of the largest in Europe", says Roger Folkhage.

Medicvent’s technology improves the working environment
Medicvent develops and manufactures medical technology solutions designed to evacuate harmful gases (such as anesthetic gases, nitrous oxide, and surgical smoke) from healthcare environments. Winning two projects of this scale in quick succession has placed significant demands on the organization.

"We are operating at full capacity to deliver central systems and motorized valves to both hospitals. These projects are extremely important to us, both as a strong quality endorsement and from a financial perspective. Each new hospital also generates substantial follow-on sales, as our systems are used and expanded over many years", Folkhage explains.

First delivery of the new SMART system
The French project represents the largest international commitment Medicvent has undertaken to date.

At the same time, the company is seeing continued strong demand. Medicvent has several ongoing discussions across Scandinavia and is preparing to deliver its new, upgraded SMART system.

"The first delivery will be to Norway shortly. We are seeing tremendous interest in the system, which is technically unique compared to anything offered by our competitors. We have developed the solution entirely in-house, and I would say we are world-leading in expertise within this specific segment", says Roger Folkhage.

New distributor in Austria
To support growth and ensure quality and capacity, Medicvent expanded its organization with two new hires during 2025. The company’s ambition is to continue growing, both in Sweden and internationally.

"Our full focus is on continued growth, particularly outside Sweden. We have recently established a new distributor in Austria and are currently exploring partnerships in both Germany and the United Kingdom", concludes Roger Folkhage.
