In uncertain times, with geopolitical tensions and crises increasing worldwide, security is becoming increasingly important. For those looking for the ultimate hiding place or a unique investment opportunity, Troostwijk Auctions now offers a rare opportunity: an underground military bunker in Germany comes under the hammer.
Historic and strategically located
This impressive bunker, located in Colpin, Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, occupies no less than 500 m² of underground space and is surrounded by several outbuildings and a directional tower on a plot totalling 16,500 m². The complex is a relic of the Cold War and was built at the time to withstand the harshest conditions. The bunker served as a command post for the German army until 2008. Its strategic location and solid construction make it an exceptional property on the real estate market.
Versatile possibilities
Besides a safe refuge, the bunker offers numerous other possibilities. Think of an exclusive refuge, a data centre with maximum security, or even a special tourist attraction. With the right modifications, this complex can be transformed into a high-tech refuge or a private residence that can withstand every conceivable threat. Indeed, the bunker has an emergency power generator, a 10,000-litre diesel tank, a ventilation system and an alarm system.
Moreover, the site offers even more potential. There is approval for a 750 kW solar panel park, which also makes this property interesting for investors in renewable energy. In addition, the site can serve as a logistics centre, training base or private domain.
‘Interest is high, the enthusiasm comes from various countries.’
Online auction
This special bunker will be auctioned by Troostwijk Auctions. The online auction will be supervised by Kevin van Asselt on behalf of Troostwijk Auctions. ‘We have already managed to generate a lot of enthusiasm with this object, both from home and abroad,’ Van Asselt explains. "Objects like this are unique but also very scarce, the likelihood of a similar object being sold in the coming years is uncertain. That makes parties have to consider now what their strategy will be". No further statements are made about the seller's background, although Van Asselt confirms that this auction is not being organised on behalf of the government.
