New: Lensbaby Sweet 22 pancake lens for full-frame mirrorless

New Lensbaby Sweet 22 pancake lens for full-frame mirrorless

The Transcontinenta Group, Lensbaby distributor for the Benelux, Germany, and Austria, announces a new and ultra-wide addition to the Lensbaby Sweet optics family, the Lensbaby Sweet 22 pancake lens for full-frame and APS-C mirrorless cameras.

The Lensbaby Sweet effect refers to a unique visual effect created by Lensbaby lenses known for their selective focus capabilities. The existing Sweet 35, Sweet 50 and Sweet 80 lenses allow photographers to isolate a specific area of the frame in sharp focus while gradually blurring the surrounding area. This creates a sweet spot of focus that can be moved around the frame by tilting the Lensbaby lens in the Lensbaby Composer Pro II.

This effect is often used to draw attention to a particular subject, giving the image an artistic or dreamlike quality. It's popular in various types of photography, including portraits, landscapes and still lives, where the photographer wants to emphasize a particular point of interest or create a sense of depth and dimensionality in a creative way.

Lensbaby Sweet 22 pancake lens

The Lensbaby Sweet 22 pancake lens has the smallest sweet spot with the most blur outside the sweet spot of any Lensbaby lens available. This ultra wide-angle prime lens has a mounted bayonet for Canon RF, Nikon Z, Sony E, Fuji X, and Leica L mount. With its compact, rugged metal body and built-in manual focus up to 13 cm from the front element, this new mirrorless only, creative effects lens brings dramatic optical effects to still and video images like never before. The tiny, sharp, centred sweet spot created by the Sweet 22 adds a sense of motion to still images. It can also create dramatic focus transitions on subjects coming into or out of the Sweet 22’s sweet spot when shooting video.

This sea of impressionistic blur that gradually transitions to a precise, sharp sweet spot gives photographers the ability to create more dramatic images than with previous Lensbaby selective focus lenses. Add to this dramatic Selective Focus effect a super-wide angle of view of almost 90 degrees on full frame cameras, for those incredible wide overview shots. You also have the ability to isolate a single subject from its surroundings, while getting as close as 13 cm from the front lens to separate the subject from its background.

Lensbaby Sweet 22 Kit

The Lensbaby Sweet 22 has a fixed aperture of F/3.5 to maximize the blurring effect. In very bright sunlight, the camera's maximum shutter speed may not be fast enough to prevent overexposure. To solve this issue, the Sweet 22 kit comes with a 3-stop ND8 (Neutral Density) filter to reduce the amount of incoming light. The Lensbaby Sweet 22 has a 46mm filter thread, so other filters such as CPL Polarization can also be used. The Kit also includes a hard case for the lens and a special Lensbaby lens cleaning cloth.

Unique features
  • Sweet Spot offers the ability to isolate a specific area of the frame in sharp focus with a gradual blur effect around it.
  • Ultra-wide angle: The 22mm f/3.5 gives a field of view of almost 90 degrees on full frame cameras and 64 degrees on APS-C cameras (effective focal length is 33mm).
  • Manual focus only, with a minimum focusing distance of 13cm
  • Maximum reproduction ratio of 1:5
  • Fixed aperture of F/3.5 to maximize bokeh effect
