Transcontinenta BV, distributor for Lensbaby in Benelux, introduces the Lensbaby Double Glass II Optic. This is a new and improved version of the original Double Glass Optic and one of the oldest and most popular lenses for the Lensbaby Optic Swap system.
With an aperture range of f/2.5 to f/22, Lensbaby's Double Glass II Optic is a new and improved version of one of the earliest and most popular optics in Lensbaby's Optic Swap System, the original Double Glass Optic. It is compatible with all of Lensbaby's current and previous Optic Swap lens bodies, like the Lensbaby Composer Pro II. The Double Glass II Optic improves on its predecessor by adding all-metal construction and a 12-blade manually adjustable internal aperture to its unique and versatile drop-in magnetic aperture system. Nine special drop-in magnetic aperture discs are supplied with the Double Glass II optic. A five-pointed star, a heart, and seven more of the nine artistically designed and shaped drop-in apertures, created by visual artists in the Lensbaby community, modify the out-of-focus areas of the image to add texture. When images shot with these uniquely shaped drop-in apertures contain out-of-focus points of light, these points of light are rendered in the shape of the aperture.
When shot at its brightest aperture of f/2.5, the Double Glass II creates a tiny sharp point of focus with increasing blur away from that point. This optic, combined with the shaped aperture, produces images that are impossible to achieve with any lens other than the original Double Glass optic. Stopped down to f/4 or smaller, the Double Glass II produces an increasingly larger sweet spot of focus to match the subject and the size of the sweet spot desired to render the subject as the user imagines it. Quickly changing the optical effect from an impressionistic, mostly out-of-focus look to a very large sweet spot with just a little blur is made possible by the internal 12-blade aperture, which is adjusted by turning the front of the lens.
The Lensbaby Double Glass II Optic will be available in March at a suggested retail price of €229.99. The Double Glass II Optic will also be available in combination with a Lensbaby Composer Pro II for a range of camera mounts including Sony E, Nikon Z, Nikon F, Canon EF, Canon RF, Micro 4/3, L-mount, Pentax L and Fuji X. The combination of Double Glass II Optics and the Lensbaby Composer Pro II will have a suggested retail price of €429.99.
