Crusader Ice This marks the thirteenth year that SWB has awarded the title "The Year's runner-up Stallions." The award is given to one jumping and one dressage stallion annually. It aims to highlight stallions who have shown a promising start in their breeding careers and whose offspring have demonstrated talents to become successful sport horses. This year's recipient of the award in showjumping is Crusader Ice (SWB) 1389.
Crusader Ice (SWB) 1357 is a SWB stallion approved at the Stallion Performance Test in 2017. Alongside his breeding duties, he has competed up to 160 showjumping at international competitions with numerous victories and placings. His oldest offspring were born in 2018, and he has 248 SWB-registered offspring, with 61 assessed at young horse tests, 12 at riding horse tests, and 60 competing. He is the sire of the premium stallion Unique Ice T (SWB) 1454.
Several of his offspring have performed very well in young horse finals, both at Falsterbo and in the Breeders Trophy. For instance, HBJ Viva la Thunder (SWB) (1st in the 5-year-old final at Falsterbo and 2nd in the 5-year-old final at the Breeders Trophy), Tarice (6th in the 4-year-old final at Falsterbo and 10th in the 4-year-old final at the Breeders Trophy), and Happy Socks (2nd in the 5-year-old final at Falsterbo) have competed successfully. Additionally, Sweet Niki, Pindoz, and Ice Tea were all placed in the 5-year-old final at the Breeders Trophy 2023. His breeding index for showjumping is 138, and he was awarded the status of Elite in 2023 based on the good results of his SWB offspring.
