This year’s edition of Stockholm Art Week brings together over 60 participants and offers up to 150 program items. The week is officially inaugurated by the Governor of Stockholm and the Director of the Nationalmuseum.

The program is aimed at both professionals in the art field and the general public, with the goal of strengthening Stockholm's identity as a creative and culturally vibrant city. With a strong international focus, Stockholm Art Week welcomes Europe’s leading art weeks and weekends through the new network The Spider.

Opening Stockholm Art Week opens at the Nationalmuseum on May 12 with speeches by acting Governor of Stockholm, Claes Lindgren, and the museum’s director, Patrick Amsellem. A welcome address is given by Joanna Sundström, founder of Stockholm Art Week. The opening is organized in collaboration with Third Culture Kids.

The Spider New this year is The Spider – an international network connecting major art weeks and weekends across Europe. Expected guests include delegates from Amsterdam Art Week, Berlin Art Week, Prague Art Week, Vienna Art Week, London Gallery Weekend, Barcelona Gallery Weekend, Lisbon Art Week, and Antwerp Art Week.

Market Art Fair Market Art Fair, the Nordic region’s leading fair for contemporary art, is held May 17–19 at Liljevalchs on Djurgården. This year’s edition gathers 51 galleries in Sweden’s first public contemporary art hall. Located on Djurgården, Liljevalchs is an impressive architectural combination of early 20th-century Nordic classicism and Gert Wingårdh’s modernist extension from 2021. During Art Week, both the new and old buildings will be filled with art from the galleries. Market also hosts a generous program of talks.

Moderna Museet Moderna Museet is one of Europe’s leading museums for modern and contemporary art. During Stockholm Art Week, the museum presents Ghost and Spirit by Mike Kelley and Fish man, Fish man by Lap-See Lam and Kholod Hawash.

På Sergels Torg På Sergels Torg is a placemaking initiative that transforms the iconic square into a dynamic cultural meeting place. The project is a collaboration between the City of Stockholm, local property owners, and civil society. Highlights of the program include:
• Malin Gabriella Nordin’s ceiling painting in Sergelarkaden
• The exhibition Magic and Resistance by glass artist collective BOOM!
• The group exhibition Excerpts by Konstfack’s GFI & VK
• The performance Vakna with Dolores DeVille, and concerts by Bambo Cissokho &
Sabou, Efia Abu & Drömbandet, and Yetema Yirga Ethio-Jazz Quartet

Fotografiska In conjunction with its 15th anniversary, Fotografiska hosts the talk What makes an award-winning visual identity?, with the award-winning design studio
BankerWessel, who have been part of Fotografiska’s visual expression from the beginning.

Gallery Tour On Saturday, May 17, several leading galleries in Östermalm invite the public to a gallery breakfast from 10:00 to 12:00. Participating galleries include Saskia Neuman Gallery, Andréhn-Schiptjenko, Carling Dalenson, CFHILL, Larsen Warner, Galerie Nordenhake, STANCE Gallery, and Public Service. Galerie Nordenhake also hosts an artist talk with Ayan Farah immediately following the breakfast round, at 12:00.

Spritmuseum Spritmuseum extends the critically acclaimed exhibition Warhol – Money on the Wall. During Stockholm Art Week, the group exhibition Darling will also be presented in the Tasting Room/Lab with Elis Monteverde Burrau, Militza Monteverde Burrau, Katarina Sylwan, and Max Ronnersjö. Opening May 15, exhibition period May 16–18.

Stockholm School of Economics – SSE Art Initiative A new permanent artistic installation by Jan Håfström and Thomas Sandell is unveiled at the Stockholm School of Economics on May 14. The project is part of SSE Art Initiative, which has integrated art and literature into the academic environment since 2013.

Bonniers Konsthall Throughout the week, visitors can join guided tours of the group exhibition That Which Carried Me, including a special After Art tour on Wednesday, May 14.

Kummelholmen Mandy El-Sayegh has invited artist Alice Walter for a collaboration
featuring audiovisual works and large-scale paintings in A Day at Kummelholmen #5. On May 14, a unique talk takes place between El-Sayegh and Walter, moderated by Renan Laru-an, Artistic Director of SAVVY Contemporary.

Carl Eldhs Ateljémuseum The museum opens its 2025 season with an exhibition by artist Theresa Traore Dahlberg, featuring site-specific works created for the museum and its surroundings.

Irina Leino at Larsen Warner Larsen Warner presents an exhibition by Finnish artist Irina Leino in temporary premises at Hudiksvallsgatan 8. The exhibition complements the gallery’s solo presentation of Leino at Market Art Fair (Booth 51).

Konsthall 16, Riksidrottsmuseum During Stockholm Art Week, Konsthall 16 hosts Cave Football – a dramatic, literary, and philosophical challenge! In connection with Hanna Sjöstrand’s exhibition Taverna Geometrica, a blindfolded football match is played between players from the literary and theater scenes. The commentator is poet, journalist, and explorer Nils Markus Karlsson, with team leaders Iggy Malmborg and Ludvig Uhlbors.

The Cell The new art hall at the National Museum of Science and Technology, in
collaboration with Karolinska Institutet, is an interactive space for research, artists, students, and visitors. During the week, the exhibition Human Behaviour opens, alongside artist talks and performances.

Art for Families Several institutions offer guided tours and activities tailored for families. Examples include the family tour Figuren led by artist and choreographer Hugo Hedberg at Bonniers Konsthall (Sunday, May 18), an introduction to From Moomin to Chop Chop at Waldemarsudde (Thursday, May 15), and the big tiny exhibition at Postkontoret in Årsta, which invites artists aged 0–10 to contribute works (Sunday, May 18). Sven-Harrys Art Museum also hosts a paper workshop with Bea Szenfeld.

Artist Talks In addition to Market Art Fair’s talk program at Liljevalchs, artist talks are held throughout the city: Andréhn-Schiptjenko presents Amine Habki at Konstnärshuset; Galleri Artem hosts Christina Berglund; Galleri Elfva shows Betty Mörelius; Galerie Nordenhake features Ayan Farah; and Lidingökonstnärerna appear at Kungsholmens Kulturhus. Sven-Harrys hosts a discussion on Dick Bengtsson with Cecilia Edefalk and Daniel Birnbaum. Galleri Magnus Karlsson presents Richard Johansson’s M/S Eternity, with the artist on-site. At Galleri Duerr, artists will be present at various times during the week. At Thielska Galleriet, which celebrates 100 years, Susanne Ljung moderates a conversation with Martin Bergström & Thomas Klementsson in the anniversary exhibition Together.

Soho House Stockholm A long-standing partner of Stockholm Art Week. Throughout the week, exclusive workshops and events for members will be held.

Mark Frygell interprets A Day’s March In connection with Stockholm Art Week, A Day’s March launches a unique collaboration with Swedish artist Mark Frygell. Together, they present Mutations, a limited capsule collection that blurs the line between art and fashion.
