Following last year’s successful premiere, Champion of the Champions, presented by Hyperion Stud, returns to SWB Equestrian Weeks at Flyinge. On Saturday, 3 October, some of Sweden’s most promising young eventing horses will meet for an action-packed showcase putting the stars of the future in the spotlight.
Champion of the Champions brings together the leading combinations from this year’s Breeders Trophy in eventing for four-, five- and six-year-old horses. The Breeders Trophy in eventing will take place on 12–13 September at the Össjö cross-country course during the Nordic-Baltic Championships. The first three horses from each age group will be invited to Champion of the Champions during SWB Equestrian Weeks.
In a condensed format, the audience will have the opportunity to see the horses perform across the three different elements of eventing. The horses will demonstrate their paces, showjumping and cross-country skills and will be judged on qualities including talent, rideability, temperament, athletic ability and potential for future international sport.
– It is wonderful to see the leading young eventing horses given this opportunity to take centre stage during SWB Equestrian Weeks. These horses may not always receive the same exposure at major events, and Champion of the Champions gives them an arena of their own in front of a wider audience. Winning with Civ V last year was a very special experience for us, and I also think the initiative is a great way of recognising all the people behind the horses and the work they put in along the way, says Malin Asai, winner of Champion of the Champions 2025 with Civ V.

The initiative is once again presented in partnership with Hyperion Stud, and the winner will be crowned Most Promising Eventing Horse, with the owner and breeder sharing prize money of SEK 10,000.
– Champion of the Champions was a much-appreciated addition to SWB Equestrian Weeks last year and gives us the opportunity to showcase our young eventing horses in a new setting. It is also an important part of the development of Swedish breeding of event horses, where we want to create a clear pathway for young horses from their first evaluations all the way through to international sport, says Anette Graf, CEO of SWB.
Champion of the Champions forms part of SWB’s commitment to Swedish eventing breeding and connects several stages in the development of future sport horses, from the eventing award at SWB’s Young Horse Test and the Unga Fälttävlanstalanger (Young Eventing Talents) project, through the Breeders Trophy, to the FEI WBFSH Eventing World Breeding Championship for Young Horses and international championships.
– For Hyperion Stud, continuing to support Champion of the Champions feels like a natural choice. We want to help create opportunities for young horses to develop, while giving breeders, owners and riders recognition for the long-term work behind every horse. Eventing is a discipline close to our hearts, and we see this initiative as a valuable platform for showcasing Swedish eventing breeding and the talents that could become part of the future of international sport, says Maucca Kärki, Swedish representative for Hyperion Stud.
Last year’s premiere demonstrated what an engaging and audience-friendly format Champion of the Champions offers. Once again, visitors will have the opportunity to watch some of the country’s most exciting young talents and perhaps catch a first glimpse of future championship horses.
Champion of the Champions takes place during SWB Equestrian Weeks at Flyinge on Saturday, 3 October 2026. The rules are available on the SWB Equestrian Weeks website.
