The Laowa 15mm lens features an ultra-wide angle perspective of 110.5°, making it ideal for landscapes, architecture but also macro photography with its 0.5x magnification capability. This allows photographers to create captivating images by combining foreground subjects with extensive background details. As opposed to a 1:1 or 2:1 magnification, a 0.5x magnification provides a more practical focusing distance, allowing you to capture your subject at the foreground while including as much background info as possible for an interesting unique shot.
The optical design includes 16 elements arranged in 11 groups, comprising three ED glass elements and two aspherical elements to control chromatic aberration and distortion effectively. This results in high-quality images with superior clarity and detail.
Weighing just 308 grams, this lens is compact and easy to handle. Additional user-friendly features include a removable lens hood, a 62mm filter thread, and multiple mount options including Canon RF, Nikon Z, Sony E, L mount, Canon EF, and Nikon F. Auto aperture functionality is available for E, Z, and EF mounts, providing convenient aperture control and EXIF data transmission directly through the camera.
