German carrier Eurowings has now announced the opening of a route between Dusseldorf Airport and Växjö Småland Airport with launch date of 21st of May. The route will be flown on Thursdays and Sundays and is now on sale. Eurowings is a 100% owned subsidiary of Lufthansa.

Växjö Småland Airport will be the only regional airport in the Scandinavia that Eurowings will operate to this coming summer.

"Firstly a big welcome to Eurowings who have seen the potential in our region. This new route is fantastic news for south-eastern Sweden and is a confirmation of the role of the airport as the gateway for south-eastern Sweden. To welcome another large European carrier to the airport is awesome.  Germany is an extremely important market for our region and this new flight into Germany's 3rd largest airport will create even more opportunities for business, tourism and the ever increasing visiting friends and relatives market segment. Dusseldorf will be the 2nd direct German destination from Växjö Småland Airport and it will be the 7th international scheduled destination from Växjö Småland Airport." says Växjö Småland Airport's CEO Ulf Axelsson.

"Germany is our largest and most important international market. German visitors accounted for over 200 000 guest nights in our region last year and this was a 8.8% growth over the previous year. German visitors whether on business or vacation create many opportunities in our region", says Destination Småland CEO Oskar Wijk.

Eurowings is the largest carrier at Dusseldorf Airport and has many connecting destinations available in conjunction with the new route to Växjö Småland Airport.
