Ryanair's London launch announcement comes after the successful launch of its Zadar service in the summer as well as its re-launch of Gdansk service proving there’s strong market demand for inbound and outbound travel in Växjö Småland.
Växjö Småland Airport CCO Brett Weihart is ecstatic over the London announcement:
“London is a fanstastic destination and a dream come true for many locals. While we will make the most of this new direct route to the cosmopolitan city of London, we expect thousands of people from London and surrounding regions will want to experience our beautiful natural environment, try our amazing food, marvel at the Kingdom of Crystal, visit the home of IKEA and do so much more," he said.
“We have finally experienced growth again during the summer and autumn which in turn benefits local businesses and gives our tourism sector a chance to recover some of the enormous losses posted over the last 18 months. This new route will add an extra 20 000 seats into Växjö Småland Airport each year and will create an added boost for the local and regions economy."
"Before the impact of Covid-19 Växjö Småland Airport boasted flights to 23 destinations and although a number of those destinations are yet to re-start we have seen 4 brand new destinations added to the list during 2021. Airlines are committing to the region like never before. No other regional airport in Sweden has so many destinations."
Ryanair began operating to Växjö Småland Airport in 2007 and London Standsted will be their 4th route currently operating from Växjö Småland Airport.
