Väderstad, one of the world’s leading companies in tillage, seeding, and planting, has introduced the PD 1350 air cart on the North American market, featuring the industry’s largest total capacity of 1,350 bushels. In addition to extending time between refills, the PD 1350 offers many of Väderstad’s premier technologies for precision seeding, including the Fenix III metering system, section control, the iCon wireless control, and variable rate capabilities.
The new PD 1350 cart includes four bins with capacities of 93, 652, 392, and 213 bushels. This design extends time between refills and maximizes uptime in the field, while providing farmers plenty of options for the placement of multiple types of seeds and fertilizer.
To handle the PD1350's impressive industry-leading capacity of 1,350 bushels, Väderstad redesigned the front steering axle. This upgrade ensures optimal weight distribution across the dual VF710/70R42 flotation tires, allowing for smooth handling even with a full load, and helps reduce compaction concerns without sacrificing maneuverability. The rear axle is equipped with dual VF900/60R42 tires with hydraulic disc brakes for added control.
The PD 1350 offers the same popular features found on the existing line of Precision Delivery Air Carts. This includes the innovative Fenix III metering system, which ensures precise, consistent product flow with reliable performance and easy maintenance. Also, Väderstad’s Section Control Technology™, with eight independent sections, eliminates overlap planting to save on input costs. Not only does the system stop metering when encountering previously seeded ground, but it also lifts the openers to leave the existing seed and fertilizer undisturbed.
Väderstad’s iPad-based iCon wireless control system provides wireless, easy-to-use control of the air cart. It offers a wide range of industry leading features, such as acres to empty, in-field calibration, and variable rate seeding capabilities. To accurately estimate remaining seed and fertilizer, the cart is equipped with individual bin load cells that weigh each bin separately and send real-time data to the iCon control.
“Farmers will be able to seed over 200 acres of canola per fill, potentially covering 45 or more acres per hour,” says Chris Bettschen, Business Development Manager. “It provides a huge advantage for farmers needing to seed a large number of acres in a small amount of time.”
Farmers in North America can begin contacting their local Väderstad dealers on July 19th, 2024, to pre-order the PD 1350. Act fast as there will be limited supply for seeding 2025. Visit vaderstad.com for more information.
