New Tamron-LINK device and Lens Utility 5 offer remote control of Tamron lenses

Transcontinenta Group, Tamron distributor for the UK, Ireland, and the Netherlands, announces the launch of the entirely new Tamron-LINK™ (Model TL-01), a compact Bluetooth accessory that enables fully wireless remote control of compatible Tamron lenses from an iOS or Android smartphone. The Tamron-LINK works exclusively with Tamron Lens Utility™ Mobile Version 5.0, released simultaneously. 

Tamron-LINK™ - Cut the Cable

The Tamron-LINK is a small Bluetooth 5.4 adapter of only 2 grams that plugs directly into the USB-C port of a compatible Tamron lens. Once connected, photographers and videographers can control the focus and iris (aperture) of the lens wirelessly from their smartphones, so no cable is required. The LINK brings a new level of flexibility and efficiency to location shooting, eliminating the clutter and restrictions of wired connections.

Cross-platform from day one! The new Tamron-LINK supports both Android and iOS devices, opening wireless lens control to the widest possible audience. iOS compatibility is made possible by the new Tamron Lens Utility Version 5.0, the first version to support Apple devices. Previously, and still possible, you could only connect a compatible Tamron lens by USB-C cable to an Android device.  

Compatibility with Tamron lenses 

With the addition of the new Tamron 35-100mm F/2.8 Di III VXD, Tamron now offers 17 lenses for Sony E- and Nikon Z-mount, all featuring a built-in USB-C port compatible with the new Tamron-LINK. Note that a firmware update is required before any of these lenses can be fully used with Tamron-LINK or Lens Utility Ver. 5.0. For two models still awaiting update firmware, the 28-75mm F/2.8 Di III VXD G2 (A063 for Nikon Z) and the 35-150mm F/2-2.8 Di III VXD (A058 for Sony E). These updates are scheduled for Spring 2026. Tamron Lens Utility™ Version 5.0 offers great new features

Version 5.0 of Tamron Lens Utility™ for PC/Mac and Mobile is a significant update packed with new creative and operational tools. Available for Windows 11 and later, macOS 13 and later, iOS 16 and later, and Android OS 6.0 and later, this release transforms the app into a comprehensive lens control centre. With V5.0 of the Tamron Lens Utility Mobile app, photographers and filmers can use the new Tamron LINK to have wireless control over these new functions:

• Focus (FC) / Iris Marker Link
  Set markers on both the focus ring and the aperture ring. On the DFF (Digital Follow Focus) screen, shift instantly to any preset position with a single tap on your mobile device

• Ring Stopper
  Set an electronically controlled stopper for the focus and aperture rings to prevent unintended over- or under-adjustment. Operate both rings simultaneously on the screen with smooth, accurate control.

• Focus & Aperture Rotation Angle Selection
  Choose the rotation angle of the focus and aperture rings to match any shooting scene in manual mode, giving precise control aligned with your creative intentions.

• Focus Time Lapse
  Works alongside the camera’s interval shooting mode to create time-lapse videos with gradually shifting focus positions, effortlessly and with precision.

• Astro Focus Lock (Astro FC-L) Fine Adjustment
  Simplifies night-sky focusing. Fine-tune and save focus positions to suit your lens in use, exact environment, and creative vision.

• Night Mode
  The entire app screen turns red and dims, reducing eye strain in low-light conditions and minimising disturbance to fellow photographers.

The Tamron-LINK will soon be available through Tamron retailers in the UK, Ireland, and the Netherlands, priced at £59.99 in the UK, €59.99 in Ireland, and €59.00 in the Netherlands, all including VAT.
