Bushnell R7 Series with edge-to-edge sharpness and superior viewing comfort

new Bushnell R7 series binoculars

Transcontinenta Group, distributor of Bushnell for the UK, Ireland, the Benelux, Germany, and Austria, introduces the Bushnell R7 Series binoculars. The R7 Series, available in 42mm, 50mm, and 56mm variants, is the new flagship line of Bushnell binoculars and successor to the well-known Bushnell Forge Series.

An entirely new optical design featuring ED Prime Glass, dielectric prism coatings, and Field Flattener technology is combined with a compact, lightweight, and rugged magnesium chassis. The Bushnell R7 Series is built for nature enthusiasts, birdwatchers, and demanding users who spend a lot of time outdoors, from rangers and land managers to other professionals who need a high-performance binocular for work or research. The series comprises five models: the Bushnell R7 8x42, 10x42, 10x50, 12x50, and 15x56.

Sharp from center to edge

One key difference from the previous Forge Series lies in the optical design. The new Bushnell R7 42mm and 50mm models feature special Field Flattener lenses made of lanthanum glass. These correct the natural curvature of the image plane. As a result, virtually the entire field of view stays sharp, from the center all the way to the edges. Birds, feathers, wildlife, and details in a landscape remain clearly visible even at the edge of the frame, delivering a calmer, more natural viewing experience. This is especially noticeable during extended observation, for example, when tracking a moving bird or systematically scanning a treeline. The powerful Bushnell R7 15x56 uses a different optical design. Instead of a Field Flattener, this model uses Abbe-König prisms, deliberately chosen for higher light transmission in this powerful 15x model.

ED Prime Glass for fine detail and natural color

All Bushnell R7 models feature Bushnell ED Prime Glass. This high-grade glass helps minimize chromatic aberration, or color fringing, delivering high resolution, strong contrast, and natural color rendition. Dielectric prism coatings and PC3 Phase Coatings complement the ED Prime Glass. Together, these optical technologies deliver a bright, high-contrast image, even in shaded vegetation, along a treeline, or during twilight.

Compact, lightweight, and built for outdoor use

Bushnell has equipped the R7 with a magnesium chassis and open-bridge design. This gives the binoculars a secure grip while keeping the housing compact and lightweight. The Bushnell R7 8x42 and 10x42 measure just 14.9 x 12.9 cm and weigh 770 grams. The 8x42 also offers an exceptionally wide field of view of 142 meters at 1,000 meters, making this model especially well-suited for quickly finding and tracking birds and other moving wildlife.

For longer distances, there are the Bushnell R7 10x50, 12x50, and the powerful 15x56. The latter offers a field of view of 78 meters at 1,000 meters and comes with the unique Bushnell BridgeSet IPD Stabilizer, which allows the set interpupillary distance to be locked in place.

Generous eye relief for comfortable viewing

No two users see things the same way or under the same conditions. That’s why Bushnell paid close attention to generous eye relief (the distance from the eye to the eyepiece). All R7 models offer a generous eye relief of 18 to 19 mm, with the R7 8x42 and 10x50 offering the largest eye relief at 19 mm. This is important for eyeglass and sunglass wearers, allowing them to take in the full field of view. It also makes extended observation more comfortable and helps prevent the image from disappearing when the binocular shifts slightly during use. Bushnell also includes three sets of interchangeable rubber eyecups. The low-profile set is designed for eyeglass wearers; the mid-height set suits most users, and the winged eyecups block out unwanted light from the sides.

Bushnell R7 Series binoculars water proof

Protected against rain, dust, and dirt

All Bushnell R7 models are IPX7 waterproof. The outer lens surfaces feature Bushnell EXO Barrier®, a coating that repels water, oil, dust, and dirt, helping keep the optics clean during use in the field. Combined with the magnesium chassis, this makes the R7 well-suited for nature enthusiasts and professionals who need their binoculars to perform in rain, moisture, and dust.

Five models for different ways of observing

The Bushnell R7 Series comprises five Ranger Green models. The R7 8x42 offers a field of view of 142 meters at 1,000 meters; the 10x42 offers 115 meters; the 10x50 offers 113 meters; and the 12x50 offers 97 meters.

The Bushnell R7 15x56 is the most powerful model. Its bright, high-magnification image makes the R7 15x56 a practical alternative to a spotting scope for certain types of observation. Thanks to its tripod adapter, 18.5 mm eye relief, and included BridgeSet IPD Stabilizer, it’s well-suited for extended observation of animals and birds at greater distances. The BridgeSet acts as a fixed stop, preventing the set interpupillary distance between the eyepieces from shifting. After transport or storage, the correct setting can be quickly found again. In effect, the BridgeSet works like a kind of "zero stop" for the binoculars.

Bushnell Lifetime Warranty

The Bushnell R7 Series is backed by the Bushnell Lifetime Warranty. The combination of ED Prime Glass, Field Flattener technology on the 42mm and 50mm models, high-grade prism coatings, a magnesium chassis, EXO Barrier®, and IPX7 waterproofing makes the R7 the most complete Bushnell binocular series to date.
