Transcontinenta UK Ltd. is proud to announce that it has been appointed as the distributor of the YASHICA brand for the United Kingdom and Ireland from 1st January 2025.
Founded in 1949 in Nagano, Japan, YASHICA initially produced electronic components for clocks before shifting its focus to cameras. Over the decades, the brand has become known for its innovative approach and commitment to quality, earning a respected position in the photographic community. In recent years, YASHICA has embraced both digital and analogue-inspired technologies, creating cameras that appeal to photographers who appreciate the charm and tactile experience of film. A standout example is the YASHICA Y35 DigiFilm Camera, introduced in 2017, which combines the hands-on feel of loading film with the convenience of digital output. Users can change DigiFilm cartridges to achieve different looks and effects, adding a creative twist to every shot.
In addition to its analogue-inspired offerings, YASHICA has developed a range of compact digital cameras aimed at a younger audience. These affordable and portable cameras are perfect for events, concerts, parties and holidays, providing a practical alternative to using, and sharing, smartphones. A trend which recently has become increasingly popular in Europe. The YASHICA x Hello Kitty camera introduces children to the joys of photography, allowing them to explore and capture their world without relying on a smartphone.
Building on this momentum, YASHICA plans to launch two new advanced digital cameras in early 2025. The YASHICA City 100 will feature 3x zoom, while the YASHICA City 200 will offer a 10x zoom and additional advanced features, all at an accessible price point. These cameras promise to combine practicality and performance to appeal to a wide range of users.
YASHICA also continues its commitment to film photography with its analogue film cameras, including the reusable YASHICA MF-1. Designed for simplicity and spontaneous shooting, it's the perfect introduction to the analogue experience.
The YASHICA MF-1 analogue camera, DigiPix, DigiMate and DZ100 Hello Kitty will be available from major retailers in the UK, and Ireland from January 2025. Prices range from £43.99 to £119.99 / €49.99 to €139.99. The YASHICA City 100 with 3x zoom will follow at the end of February and the YASHICA City 200 with 10x zoom will be introduced in March, with a recommended retail price of €299.99 / £259.99 / €249.99 / £219.99 and respectively.
