Datacolor has applied its colour expertise to a unique and innovative device that goes beyond the traditional light meter. The Datacolor LightColor Meter is a Bluetooth-enabled, multi-functional measurement tool that's like an on-set PA that fits in your pocket. It continuously streams both light and colour data to your smartphone in real time via the free Datacolor LightColor Meter app. The LightColor Meter is a versatile device that measures both light intensity and colour temperature from any light source. It delivers instant readings directly to your smartphone, enabling seamless exposure and lighting adjustments.

Take the guesswork out of exposure and colour settings

The Datacolor LightColor Meter simplifies exposure and colour adjustments for photographers, videographers, and cinematographers by providing accurate light and colour measurements. It eliminates guesswork by providing real-time updates via the LightColor Meter app, ensuring consistency across multiple cameras and varying lighting conditions. This Bluetooth-enabled device accurately measures all types of lighting, from fluctuating outdoor conditions to studio setups, including strobe/flash and mixed artificial/natural lighting. Users can synchronize multiple meters to monitor different areas simultaneously, saving time and increasing accuracy in complex lighting environments.

In addition to colour temperature, the meter measures Duv (green-magenta shift), allowing users to correct for inconsistencies in LED, fluorescent or sunlight. It also helps to balance strobe and ambient lighting to prevent unwanted colour casts. A built-in library of Profoto®, LEE® and Rosco® filters helps to select the right colour gels for corrections. With up to 15 alarms, the meter alerts users to changes in light levels or colour shifts, making it invaluable for outdoor and studio shoots. It ensures accurate white balance from the outset, reducing reliance on auto white balance and allowing greater creative control.
