About the Science Based Targets initiative
The Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) is a global organization that enables companies to set ambitious goals for emissions reduction in accordance with the latest findings in climate science. SBTi focuses on accelerating the work of companies around the world to halve emissions before 2030 and reach net-zero before 2050.
The initiative is a cooperative effort of the CDP, the United Nations Global Compact, the World Resources Institute (WRI), and the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF), and is one of the We Mean Business Coalition commitments. SBTi defines and promotes best practice in science-based target formulation, offers resources and guidance to remove barriers for adoption, and provides independent assessments and validation of companies’ targets.
