Built on Trust: Territory Sales Representative Tyler Hagan

TSR Tyler Hagan

As a Territory Sales Representative serving customers across New Hampshire and Vermont, Tyler Hagan is focused on building relationships that go beyond day-to-day service. By taking the time to understand each customer’s unique goals and challenges, Tyler helps connect businesses and organizations with solutions that support their operational and sustainability objectives. Whether working with a small local business or a major institution, his approach is rooted in listening, collaboration, and delivering value.

What does a typical day in the field look like for you?

A typical day starts with getting out into the market and connecting with customers, whether through scheduled meetings or spontaneous visits. Being in front of customers early helps me stay engaged and ready to respond when unexpected opportunities or challenges arise. No two days are exactly alike, and that’s one of the things I enjoy most about the role.

How do you help customers address more specialized recycling and resource management challenges?

In a mature market like White River Junction, many customers already have a solid handle on their trash and recycling programs. Where I can add the most value is helping tackle more specialized challenges. Some customers have specialized recycling and material management needs, whether that’s finding outlets for laboratory equipment, rigid plastics, Styrofoam, or other non-traditional materials. Helping identify sustainable solutions for those situations highlights the range of services and expertise Casella can provide.

What do you enjoy most about serving such a diverse customer base across New Hampshire and Vermont?

Working across New Hampshire and Vermont keeps the role exciting. My customer base includes a wide range of businesses and organizations, from local businesses to large institutions. Every customer has different needs and priorities, and I enjoy the variety that comes with helping them find the right solutions.

How do you define success in your role?

For me, success extends beyond revenue and is reflected in the connections I build throughout the community. Recently, a resident at Kendal at Hanover was interested in learning more about local recycling and composting programs, and my name had been shared by organizations like King Arthur Flour and Hypertherm Associates. When people trust you enough to recommend you as a resource, that’s a meaningful measure of success.

What are the keys to building long-term customer relationships?

Engage, listen, and learn. Being present, listening carefully, and taking a genuine interest in a customer’s business goes a long way toward building trust. I also believe honesty is critical. Customers appreciate transparency and working with someone who takes the time to understand their challenges and help find solutions.

Who has influenced your professional growth, and how does that impact the way you work today?

A big part of my motivation comes from the support and trust I’ve received from Market Area Manager David Allen. Early in my career at Casella, David gave me the opportunity to take ownership of my role, which built my confidence and encouraged me to take ownership of my role. That experience continues to motivate me to create that same sense of trust and confidence for colleagues and others I meet along the way.
