Edelweiss expands its winter 2026/27 service, bringing greater flexibility to holidays combining Arctic nature, living culture and local flavours.

"Sweden’s Arctic region will be easier to reach this winter as Edelweiss increases its non-stop service between Zurich and Luleå. Following the route’s successful first season, the airline will expand their services during winter 2026/27" says Sofi Holmgren, Travel Experience Manager at Arctic Sweden Visitors board.

Monday departures will supplement the existing Friday flights during the majority of the season, giving travellers more choice when planning a winter escape. The additional services make it easier to combine a long weekend or midweek break with the region’s nature and cultural experiences or stay longer and explore further.

An Arctic journey shaped by local people’s passion and homeland

"For travellers curious about the people behind the scenery, the region offers opportunities to discover living Sámi culture through Sámi-led experiences, encounter local crafts and explore the food traditions that connect communities with the land", says Sofi Holmgren, Travel Experience Manager, Arctic Sweden Visitors Board.

Luleå can serve as a base for a shorter stay combining city life, culture and nearby nature, or as the starting point for a wider journey through Sweden’s Arctic region. The expanded flight schedule gives independent travellers and tour operators more scope to shape itineraries around different interest and lengths of stay.

With more flights to choose from, travellers have greater flexibility to shape their stay, whether exploring independently or travelling with a tour operator. As a major international hub, Zurich also opens up Arctic Sweden to travellers from across Europe and other international markets.
