The first day of matches for the participants. Regardless of how it went, the evening was pure joy, music, and dance.
– Gothia Cup is so much more than a football tournament. It’s about a lifetime experience. The memory of the opening ceremony at Ullevi is an important part of that experience, where we celebrate our shared interest in our sport, says Niclas Freiholtz, Secretary General of Gothia Cup.

The opening ceremony is one of the tournament's most anticipated moments and serves as a symbolic starting point for a week filled with international encounters, community, and joy in football.

This year, the theme of the Opening Ceremony was Celebrate, which is Gothia Cup's sustainability initiative. The audience was taken on a journey from the birth of life on Earth to today, and how we should take care of it, symbolizing Celebrate the Planet. Act two highlighted the importance of community, friendship, and how we are strong when we collaborate. All of this reflects our sustainability work with Celebrate the People. Act three focused on Celebrate the Game, where Gothia Cup, together with the participants, fosters fair play.
