Casella’s Director of Financial Shared Services, Shannon Creed, was recently named one of Waste360’s 2026 40 Under 40. The distinction recognizes inspiring and innovative leaders under the age of 40 who have made significant contributions through excellence in waste, recycling, food waste, and organics management.
Creed joined Casella in 2011 and has spent more than 13 years advancing through the organization while helping strengthen the financial infrastructure that supports every aspect of the company’s operations. Today, she leads a team of nearly 90 professionals across Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, Cash Applications, and Billing Services, a department that plays a critical role in ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and reliability across the business.
In her current role, Creed has been a driving force behind modernizing and scaling Casella’s financial operations. She has led major system integrations, overseen customer payment gateway migrations, and built the policies and playbooks that now guide consistent, accurate, and efficient financial processes across the company. Her work has transformed Financial Shared Services into a strategic partner that strengthens customer experience, supports operational teams, and enhances the company’s overall financial health.
“Shannon brings clarity, strategic thinking, and a deep sense of responsibility to every challenge we face,” said Chris Heald, Vice President of Financial Shared Services. “Watching her grow from an Accounts Receivable Specialist into a trusted leader has been one of the great privileges of my career.”
Beyond her operational impact, Creed is widely respected for her leadership style. She is known for developing talent, creating clear career pathways, and mentoring employees across the organization. Her ability to understand people, build strong teams, and lead with integrity has made her a standout figure within Casella and the broader industry.
Creed continues to play a key role in shaping Casella’s future, championing technology‑enabled financial processes and cross‑department collaboration that improve efficiency and reduce friction for customers. Her leadership is helping position the company and the industry for a more streamlined, data‑driven, and customer‑focused future.
