EasyMining, an innovation company within the Ragn‑Sells Group, had the honor of welcoming Sweden’s Minister for EU Affairs, Jessica Rosencrantz, to Uppsala on 13 April 2026. The visit focused on scaling sustainable solutions for phosphorus recycling within the European Union—particularly the company’s proprietary Ash2Phos technology.
The Ash2Phos technology makes it possible to efficiently recover valuable resources while simultaneously removing harmful substances—an essential contribution to the circular economy and to reducing Europe’s dependence on imported raw materials.
During the visit, EasyMining presented its research and development activities and provided insights into the laboratory where innovative circular‑economy processes are continuously being developed.
In discussions with the Minister, it became clear that innovation and regulatory frameworks must go hand in hand to unlock the full potential of phosphorus recycling. EasyMining expressly welcomes the clear stance of the Swedish government, which is advocating for improved regulatory conditions in the context of the Circular Economy Act (CEA).
Interview with Jessica Rosencrantz
Minister Rosencrantz emphasized the importance of reviewing and harmonizing existing EU regulations to strengthen competitiveness and advance the green transition. She also underscored the need to integrate requirements that promote phosphorus recovery from wastewater and sewage sludge into relevant EU legislation—without compromising environmental and health standards.
"There is a clear opportunity to reuse resources and create more circular flows. Where this is possible, legislation needs to enable it – for example when it comes to using recycled phosphorus in animal feed," Rosencrantz said.
The visit took place against the backdrop of current political developments, including the revision of the Urban Wastewater Treatment Directive under the Zero Pollution Action Plan and upcoming reforms of the EU Sewage Sludge Directive. EasyMining sees these developments as an important opportunity to further integrate innovative technologies such as Ash2Phos into the regulatory framework.
With its Ash2Phos technology, EasyMining positions itself as a pioneer in phosphorus recycling and makes a significant contribution to securing critical raw materials and achieving Europe’s climate goals.
