Lensbaby introduces the Twist 28. A new 28mm manual focus lens for mirrorless cameras that brings the signature Petzval swirling bokeh of the Twist series into a wider field of view. The Twist 28 is the follow-up to the Twist 60 and the first Twist lens designed from the ground up for modern mirrorless systems.
Creative effect lenses
Lensbaby designs and manufactures lenses built as deliberate alternatives to conventional corrected optics. The product range covers a variety of creative effects, including selective focus, swirling bokeh, soft focus, stretch and light streak characteristics, all intended to give photographers and filmmakers direct control over the visual mood of their images.
A wider take on the Twist effect
The Twist 28 is the latest addition to that range and builds on the same Petzval-derived optical design as the Twist 60. The principle is the same: a sharp centre subject surrounded by progressively swirling out-of-focus areas. At 28mm, the lens opens the effect to a significantly wider angle of view (90 degrees on full frame, 64 degrees on APS-C), making it suited for street photography, environmental portraits, landscapes and close-up creative work where context and surroundings play a larger role in the composition.
The lens uses a 4-element, 3-group optical design with a fixed circular aperture of f/3.5. Broadband multi-coated anti-reflective coatings maintain contrast and colour fidelity across the frame. Focus is manual via a barrel-type ring, with a minimum focusing distance of 200 mm and a maximum reproduction ratio of 1:7. There are no filter threads.
Twist 28 is available in Canon RF, Fuji X, Nikon Z, Sony E, and Micro Four Thirds mounts.
