PolarPro introduces GoldStache, a warm diffusion filter
PolarPro GoldstachePolarPro continues its collaboration with photographer and filmmaker Garrett King, known as ShortStache, with the release of GoldStache, a warm diffusion filter joining the ShortStache filter lineup.
GoldStache uses a 1/4 Gold Mist element to produce subtle glow, lifted highlights and balanced skin tones without reducing clarity. The filter is co-developed with ShortStache and delivers a clean, film-inspired warmth straight out of camera while maintaining crisp detail.
The filter combines controlled diffusion with a built-in circular polarizer element, letting shooters manage reflections and enhance colour while keeping shadows clean and important areas sharp. This makes GoldStache more than a standard diffusion filter, as the polarizer adds practical control over the image without requiring a separate filter in the stack.
The original ShortStache filter brought subtle halation and softened highlights to stills and video. GoldStache follows the same approach but adds a golden colour shift, targeting warmer rendering and richer-looking skin tones at the point of capture rather than in post-production.
GoldStache is built with PolarPro Cinema Series glass in a durable aluminum frame. The filter is designed for hybrid photo and video workflows and tuned to deliver consistent results in natural light, whether shooting stills, motion or both.
The filter is available in 1/4 strength. Thread sizes range from 43 mm to 82 mm, with 86 mm and 95 mm in cinema (clamp-on) mount. A Helix Maglock version is also offered for quick attachment and removal.
