Finnish Defence Forces and FORCIT have signed a contract for the procurement of TNT explosives

On September 3, 2025, the Finnish Defence Forces Logistics Command and FORCIT signed an agreement on the procurement of TNT explosives.

The procurement agreement was signed by Major General Tero Ylitalo, Director of the Finnish Defence Forces Logistics Command, and Joakim Westerlund, CEO of FORCIT.

Under the agreement, the Finnish Defence Forces Logistics Command will purchase TNT explosives from FORCIT for the needs of the Finnish Defence Forces in 2028–37. The explosive is supplied by Forcit Pori Oy, which is part of the FORCIT Group.

The acquisition is related to making explosives production more efficient and it secures domestic TNT production.

To enable production, FORCIT will build a new production facility that will employ an estimated 70 people. In addition, the indirect effects on other companies, such as logistics and chemical companies, are significant. The employment impact of the construction phase is also significant and brings positive effects to the City of Pori and its economic area.

Defence Minister Antti Häkkänen authorised last week The Defence Forces to sign the agreement and highlighted the importance of the project for national defence.

Joakim Westerlund, CEO of FORCIT Group, also commented on the agreement from a national defence perspective: “Through our long history and experience, we feel it is our duty to be involved in building credible defence capabilities and military security in Finland and also in Europe.”
