Wallenius Marine and global technology leader ABB launch a joint venture to accelerate the global rollout of OVERSEA™ – an innovative fleet support center service for the maritime industry. By combining their strengths in maritime operations and advanced technology, the two companies join forces to offer a powerful solution that helps shipowners' managers and operators improve energy efficiency, reduce carbon emissions, and streamline maintenance, contributing to more sustainable and cost-effective operations.
OVERSEA™ represents a unique solution within the maritime industry. By combining Wallenius Marine's expertise in vessel operations and performance with ABB's strength in automated and digital solutions for the maritime industry, the companies are now taking a crucial step towards globally expanding OVERSEA™ by incorporating the collaboration as a joint venture. OVERSEA™ is a digital platform combined with hands-on support from center experts, to turn data into valuable insights and actions. It enables effective collaboration between crews, shore-based teams, and the fleet support center by providing a shared database to boost operational efficiency.
"Our long-standing tradition of innovation and pioneering spirit is built on many years of experience in ship operations and advanced technical expertise. This makes us well equipped to quickly identify and respond to the needs of the industry. Through our partnership and close collaboration with ABB, we can now bring this innovative fleet support center service to a global market, and we look forward to continuing to drive maritime development together," says Johan Mattsson, CEO, Wallenius Marine.
“The establishment of the OVERSEA™ joint venture marks a significant milestone for us, solidifying the successful collaboration between ABB and Wallenius Marine over the past few years. With OVERSEA™, customers can transform data into actionable insights, enabling them to not only improve their performance but also sustain it over time. Consequently, both vessels and customer offices can adopt sustainable improvements, enhancing energy efficiency, safety, and reliability.” says Tomas Arhippainen, Business Line Manager, Marine Service & Digital, ABB Marine & Ports.
Jesper Lögdström, previously Head of Performance Management at Wallenius Marine, has been appointed CEO. The company’s headquarters will be in Stockholm. Wallenius Marine's strategy to lead the transition to sustainable shipping has already resulted in several groundbreaking innovations, such as ballast water treatment (PureBallast), modern wing sails (Oceanbird), and now the fleet support center service OVERSEA™.
