Transcontinenta Group, distributor of Hasselblad in the Benelux, announces the launch of the Hasselblad X2D II 100C and the Hasselblad XCD 2,8-4/35-100E. This combination provides professional photographers with new creative and photographic possibilities.
The New Hasselblad X2D II 100C is built for photographers who demand uncompromising image quality. It delivers true-to-life colours with impressive depth, powered by the Hasselblad Natural Colour Solution with High Dynamic Range (HNCS HDR). The new AF-C mode, subject detection, and 10-stop image stabilisation work together to ensure sharp results in almost any situation. With the Hasselblad Phocus Mobile 2 app, the workflow remains intuitive and fast, keeping the focus entirely on image-making
The 100-megapixel sensor delivers 16-bit colour depth and captures approximately 281 trillion colours. With a dynamic range of 15.3 stops and a base ISO of 50, every detail is preserved, from deep shadows to bright highlights.
The Hasselblad X2D II 100C is the first medium format camera to feature true end-to-end HDR. Images are captured in a single exposure and processed directly in-camera as HDR HEIF or Ultra HDR JPEG. Unlike traditional HDR techniques that rely on exposure bracketing, HNCS HDR utilises the full dynamic range and extended colour spectrum of the medium format sensor in one single capture. This results in an increase of up to 3 stops of dynamic range in-camera, and even up to 4 stops in RAW processing using Phocus software. The colour gamut is further enhanced with P3, instead of sRGB, delivering fuller, more vibrant, and lifelike images even in bright light.
To evaluate HDR images accurately, the 3.6-inch OLED touchscreen now features HDR display and up to 1400 nits of brightness. The screen tilts 90° upwards and 43° downwards, staying clear of the viewfinder and easily accessible to the photographer.
With Phocus Mobile 2, HDR RAW files can be edited directly on an iPhone or iPad. Adjustments to exposure, noise reduction via Hasselblad Natural Noise Reduction (HNNR), and preservation of Hasselblad’s signature colour rendering are all possible. Even when the camera is in standby, images can be transferred and edited wirelessly without touching the camera.
The high resolution of the 100-megapixel medium format BSI CMOS sensor demands a stabilisation system of equal calibre. Hasselblad has developed a completely redesigned 5-axis in-body image stabilisation (IBIS) system offering 10 stops of compensation. This performance is up to eight times better than the previous X2D 100C, particularly beneficial for capturing distant subjects. It now becomes possible to shoot handheld at slower shutter speeds and still achieve sharp results, ideal for creative long exposures or nighttime cityscapes without a tripod.
For the first time in a Hasselblad camera, continuous autofocus (AF-C) makes its debut. Powered by deep learning algorithms, the X2D II 100C detects and tracks people, vehicles, and even cats and dogs in various poses. In AF-S mode, 425 PDAF zones and LiDAR technology enable fast and accurate focusing. A new AF assist light supports low-light shooting and also functions as a self-timer indicator.
A 5D joystick and eight customisable buttons make the camera highly intuitive and fast to operate. The built-in 1TB SSD can store over 50,000 HEIF images and supports read speeds of up to 2850 MB/s and write speeds of up to 2370 MB/s, enabling it to keep pace with any shooting scenario. Additional or backup storage is possible via the CFexpress Type B card slot.
The matte graphite-grey finish combines durability with understated elegance. Black lettering and a newly designed grip improve handling and comfort. The internal structure has been optimised and the overall weight is reduced by 7.5% compared to the previous model.
The new Hasselblad XCD 2,8–4/35–100E is designed for photographers who work under varying conditions and across a wide range of subjects, without compromising image quality. With a full-frame equivalent focal range of 28–76mm, this zoom effortlessly covers wide-angle, standard, and short telephoto. It is ideal for landscapes, portraits, street photography, and travel.
The fast f/2.8 aperture at the wide end, offers creative flexibility in low light and delivers a soft and natural bokeh. This E-series lens consists of 16 elements in 13 groups, including three aspherical and five ED elements, and is optimised for the 100MP sensor to deliver edge-to-edge sharpness and faithful colour rendering. The fast STM autofocus motor and internal focusing group enable precise and responsive focus. Paired with the X2D II 100C’s AF-C, moving subjects are tracked with high accuracy.
The built-in leaf shutter offers exposure times from 1/4000s to 68 minutes, with full flash synchronisation at any speed. This provides flexibility when using fill flash in bright light or combining long exposures with wide apertures. Despite its zoom range and brightness, the lens remains compact and lightweight at 894 grams and 133mm in length. Three control rings—for focus, zoom, and a customisable function—provide direct access to settings like shutter speed, aperture, or ISO.
The new Hasselblad X2D II 100C has a recommended retail price of €7200 including VAT and will be available in limited quantities starting August. The Hasselblad XCD 2,8-4/35-100E has a recommended retail price of €4800 including VAT and will be available through Hasselblad dealers in the Benelux starting in September.
