Partille World Cup launches global tournament concept – first stop: Cairo 2026

The world’s largest youth handball tournament is going global. During this year’s Partille World Cup in Gothenburg, the organization unveils a new international sister tournament: Partille World Cup Cairo.
– This is a historic step for Partille World Cup – and for youth handball as a whole, says Fredrik Andersson, Secretary General of Partille World Cup.

The first edition is scheduled for April 2026 and marks the beginning of a global tour – aiming to spread the values of handball and create more meeting places around the world.
– We know the power of sports reaches far beyond the court. By taking our concept abroad, we want to inspire more young people, build bridges between cultures, and support the growth of the sport where it’s needed most, says Fredrik Andersson.

A natural first step
Egypt and its capital Cairo will be the first stop in this new franchise initiative. With strong local interest, support from the Ministry of Sports and the national federation, and a growing youth segment in handball, the region is seen as ideal for launch.
Behind the event is ITZ-Sports, with extensive experience in organizing large-scale sports and fitness events in Egypt.
– Partille World Cup is the global home of youth handball. I’ve had the honor of being part of it as a player, a coach, and now – proudly – as an event organizer, says Adam Elzoghby, managing partner of ITZ-Sports.

He adds that bringing the Partille World Cup to Cairo and the Africa/Middle East region is a huge step forward for the sport. And that it will give thousands of young players in the region the opportunity to experience the magic of Partille World Cup – something that has inspired generations.
– We are committed to delivering an unforgettable experience for players, coaches, parents, and the wider handball community, Adam Elzoghby says. With the backing of the Ministry of Sports and the national federation we’re confident this will be a world-class event that reflects the passion and excellence of Egyptian handball.

A global concept – with its heart in Gothenburg
Partille World Cup Cairo will be the first tournament in what’s called the Partille World Cup Tour – a growing network of sister tournaments planned in various parts of the world in the coming years.
The concept is based on a franchise model where local organizers run the events, while Partille World Cup provides the brand, concept, know-how, and digital support – with full quality control and a shared value foundation.
– We’re growing – but keeping our heart in Gothenburg, says Fredrik Andersson. This is not just expansion. It’s a way to extend our promise: to create memories, meaningful encounters, and lifelong opportunities – no matter where in the world you live.

Location and exact dates will be revealed in September.
