Sportsmanship and respect highlighted at Partille World Cup

Partille World Cup is more than just the world’s largest handball cup. Throughout the week, there is an active focus on initiatives such as Fair Play, where trophies are awarded to players or teams who stand out for their positive behavior. And now, the nominations are underway.
– We see an incredible amount of great behavior during the week and want to shine a light on it, says competition director Martin Laanemets.

Fair Play is a cornerstone of the Partille World Cup, which works actively to foster a positive match environment through the “Celebrate the Game” initiative.
The Fair Play Trophy is part of this effort, and this year, four trophies will be awarded to teams or individual players who have demonstrated positive actions during the tournament.
– We see a lot of positive behavior on the courts and often hear how fair the games are. It feels both meaningful and important to encourage everyone to recognize and highlight these good examples, says Martin Laanemets, tournament director for Partille World Cup.

To further enhance the match environment, Partille World Cup also employs safety hosts and referee observers – all aimed at increasing respect for Fair Play among players, spectators and parents. By highlighting examples of respect and sportsmanship, the organizers hope to create an even better experience for everyone involved.
– Handball isn’t just about winning; it’s also about being a respectful teammate and a good representative of your team, says Martin Laanemets.

Nominations for this year’s Fair Play Trophy are in full swing, and the award ceremony will take place on Friday at 5:00 PM, at Fristad Arena.
