Martin Hanberger, CEO and founder, has appointed Malin Walfridsson as COO of Nil Medical AB. Growing demand for the Nil Medical Vestpack has prompted Umeå-based Nil Medical AB to expand its leadership team. Malin Walfridsson, former Head of R&D at Nordic Biomarker, has joined the company as COO and Deputy CEO.
Nil Medical is on a mission to redefine mobility for children undergoing intensive medical treatment. Originally developed for pediatric cancer patients, the Vestpack is also proving valuable in areas like clinical nutrition, where freedom of movement and safety are critical.
Mission-driven growth a key factor
With business gaining traction, founder and CEO Martin Hanberger is making his first key hire. Walfridsson, with a PhD in medical chemistry, brings over a decade of experience from Nordic Biomarker and the life science sector.
“What drew me to Nil Medical is twofold,” says Walfridsson. “First, the chance to contribute to something that truly improves lives, especially for children in difficult circumstances. And second, the opportunity to help build a company from an early stage. I was part of the growth journey at Nordic Biomarker, and I’m excited to be back at that starting line, this time even earlier.”

Walfridsson recently joined Hanberger at a major pediatric oncology conference in Budapest, where they introduced the Vestpack to clinicians from across Europe.
“It was inspiring,” she says. “Doctors immediately saw how the Vestpack could improve the daily lives of their patients. There’s a clear need—and a real sense of momentum.”
