The family behind Sweden’s iconic Treehotel is unveiling a new chapter in Arctic travel experiences: Villa Äng, a small-scale, all-inclusive private villa experience nestled in the forestland of Swedish Lapland.

Scheduled to open in December 2025, the concept is led by the next generation of the family business, with their daughter now at the helm—bringing fresh vision to a legacy rooted in genuine hospitality and a deep connection to nature. “Äng”, meaning “meadow” in Swedish, reflects both the villa's serene setting overlooking open fields and its connection to the surrounding landscape.

Located in the village of Harads, just an hour’s drive from Luleå Airport and close to the Arctic Circle, Villa Äng offers discerning travelers complete privacy, comfort, and immersion in the beauty of Sweden’s Arctic destination. The 400-square-meter villa accommodates up to 10 guests, featuring five spacious double bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms, including a luxurious 25-square-meter suite. Every room, along with the villa’s generous lounge and dining areas, offers panoramic views of open meadows and the winding Lule River.

Villa Äng is more than just a pl

ace to stay—it’s a personal invitation to feel at home in the Arctic, says the family.

We’ve designed every element with heart and purpose, creating a space where guests can truly connect with nature, themselves, and each other.

Guests are treated to round-the-clock service, including a dedicated concierge and personal chef, ensuring each stay is seamlessly tailored. Whether seeking serenity and inspiration or adventure and celebration, Villa Äng offers curated experiences ranging from dog sledding and northern lights safaris to forest bathing and riverside dining.

Reflecting the Treehotel’s spirit of innovation and design, but with a new focus on privacy and bespoke service, Villa Äng marks a bold evolution for the family-run enterprise. With sustainability, soul, and sophistication at its core, the villa caters to travelers who value meaningful experiences in extraordinary locations.

Annika Fredriksson, CEO of the Swedish Lapland Visitors Board, believes that Villa Äng is a great example of next-generation initiatives in tourism and hospitality:

Villa Äng is a great example of how the next generation in the hospitality sector dares to take new steps – while staying rooted in the local and with their heart in nature. It is precisely these kinds of initiatives that strengthen Swedish Lapland as an internationally attractive, year-round destination.

Opening December 2025 – Bookings available from Fall 2025. Construction starts June 2025.
