AAMI Accepting Nominations for 2025 Awards
AAMI is pleased to announce that the application cycle for the 2025 AAMI Awards has officially begun. These awards are AAMI’s way of recognizing its community for what it is – a vibrant set of professionals, scientists, and advocates who support the safe and effective use of health technology.
According to John Sloan, Vice President of Membership at AAMI, “Evey year, we relish the opportunity to give back to our dedicated network of health technology professionals. The AAMI and AAMI Foundation Awards are an official recognition of their achievements and their legacy.”
If you know an HTM professional, researcher, regulatory specialist, or a sterilization or sterile processing professional who merits recognition, please consider nominating them for one of the awards described below.
Each AAMI Award comes with a cash prize and commemorative plaque. These awards will be conferred at various events such as the 2025 AAMI eXchange in New Orleans, which will take place on June 20-23.
AAMI Awards
- AAMI’s HTM Leadership Award: An award that recognizes one individual in the HTM field who has demonstrated excellence and achievement in leading others, whether they be employees, peers, or fellow association members. Nominees may not be self-nominated for this award.
- AAMI & GE Healthcare's BMET of the Year Award: Recognizes a single biomedical equipment technician (BMET) whose career and contributions who have elevated the HTM profession.
- AAMI's Young Professional Award: Presented to a professional under the age of 40 who has already demonstrated commitment to the healthcare profession.
- The Spirit of AAMI Award: Recognizes a single AAMI volunteer who has made substantial contributions to AAMI’s mission and vision.
- AAMI's HTM Association of the Year Award: Conferred to an HTM association that has distinguished itself during the past year via society operations and commitment to elevating the HTM profession in their area.
- AAMI & MedCrypt Cybersecurity Visionary Award: Awarded to an individual or group who has demonstrated the vision and foresight required to meet and solve the most pressing problems in healthcare cybersecurity.
AAMI Foundation Awards
Standards and Sterilization Science
- AAMI Sterilization Science Award: AAMI’s newest award, conferred to an individual who has made significant and sustained contributions to the theory and practice of sterilization, sterility assurance, or contamination control.
- Standards Developer Award: Awarded to up to five individuals who have made notable, substantive contributions throughout the standards development process for AAMI guidance documents.
- AAMI Technical Committee Award: Recognizes up to two AAMI technical committees who have made outstanding contributions to committee operations and efforts.
Research and Grants
- Publication Awards: Formerly the BI&T Awards, these are awarded for Best Article, Best Commentary, and Best Research Paper. Publications in both AAMI News and journal articles in BI&T (Biomedical Instrumentation & Technology) will be considered.
- The Mary K. Logan Program: A grant program that funds scientific studies that will foster patient safety and advance the state of the art in the health technology field.
- The Kilmer Scholarship Award: Provides academic support to individuals studying the fields of microbiological quality or sterility assurance. Undergraduate and graduate students are encouraged to apply.
- The Kilmer Research Grant: This grant supports collaborative scientific endeavors by providing funding to individuals and teams advancing the science of microbiological quality or sterility assurance through collaborative research.
