Nordic’s first green bond for public transport saves 8,250t of GHG in first year

Nobina AB reported that the green bond that it issued in February 2019 has resulted in savings of 8,250t of GHG, equivalent to the annual emissions from 3,500 passenger cars. Nobina, based in Stockholm, is the largest bus transport group in the Nordic region, serving markets in Denmark, Finland, Norway and Sweden with a total of 3,347 buses. The green bond, worth SEK 500 million was used to purchase 50 fully electric buses and 90 buses that are entirely fueled by fossil-free fuels with another 4 electric buses waiting for delivery.

 

Danish government’s hydrogen strategy begins to materialise

The Danish government's proposal for emission reductions, which includes new energy islands with wind power, still has to be approved by Parliament. But companies are already at the starting blocks to participate in the hydrogen adventure. The Danish government wants to build two large artificial "energy islands" in the North Sea and the Baltic Sea, filled with wind turbines, used to generate electricity to produce green hydrogen that will be used for powering fuels cells, or converted into climate-friendly aviation fuel or green methanol to power ships. According to Ulrik Stridbeck, Head of Economics at the Danish energy company, Örstedt, aviation fuel production could start as early as 2028

 

New compostable plastic foil from BASF - reduces GHG emissions and increases shelf life

BASF announced that it has developed a new plastic film that can be composted, and that at the same time, extends the shelf life of fruit and vegetables by up to 600%.
