Denmark’s government ignores carbon tax as a green solution

Denmark’s green tax reform, which the Government presented on Monday, was seen as a crucial tool for achieving the 2030 targets. But the proposal will do little to reduce emissions of CO2 in 2025, and faces great criticism from the support parties. According to one report, there is no hint of documentation of how the actual proposal for tax changes, tax cuts for the business community, will make the economy greener.

 

Everfuel and Nel to collaborate to develop Hydrogen in Norway

Everfuel A / S and Nel have signed a Memory of Understanding whereby Everfuel will invest in Nel's wholly owned subsidiary H2FuelNorway AS (H2Fuel), which will be named Everfuel Norway Retail AS. Everfuel Norway Retail's strategy will be to build, own and operate hydrogen stations in Norway starting in Oslo. Everfuel and Nel have the support of large fleet owners and truck users who are committed to low-carbon transport solutions. 

 

Vestas invests in new, green start-ups

Vestas Venture is the new investment platform that Vestas has launched to accelerate innovation in renewable energy. The investments are directed at new start-up companies with promising innovative solutions in the areas of:

  • Long-term storage of energy and flexibility in the electricity grid
  • Power-to-X solutions for electrification and decarbonization of heavy transport and heavy industry
  • Wind energy technology and solutions
  • Sustainability and development of new materials

 

Circle-K buys 50 million litres of e-methanol

Petrol retailer, Circle K has entered into an agreement to buy 50 million litres of e-methanol from 2022. The volume corresponds to Denmark's total production of electricity-based fuel. Danish company REintegrate that will supply the e-methanol over a 5-year period. The agreement is part of Circle K's ambition that fuels from their filling stations by 2030 will emit 30 percent less CO2 than today. Initially, e-methanol will be blended into existing fuels, however longer term vehicles may run on pure methanol.

 

Mayor of Turku, Finland receives leadership positions in the Global Association of Sustainable Cities

Turku Mayor Minna Arve has been elected European representative to the global board of the global ICLEI organization. At the same time, Arve was elected Vice-President of the European Government. ICLEI - Local Governments for Sustainability is a global network of cities that promotes sustainable urban development.

 

Sandviken to take delivery of two hydrogen buses in 2021

Two hydrogen buses will commence regular scheduled traffic in Sandviken at the end of 2021, after Transdev, which runs public transport in the area, ordered the buses from Solaris.
