Denmark and Indonesia sign strategic green collaboration agreement

Jeppe Kofod, Minister for Foreign Affairs in Denmark, and Retno Marsudi, Minister for Foreign Affairs in Indonesia have signed a green collaboration agreement to ensure a Danish-Indonesian partnership based on the UN's Sustainable Development Goals. The agreement pertains to creating green jobs and boosting the phasing out of coal. Indonesia is the fifth largest emitter of CO2 and among the ten largest coal consuming countries, as well as one of the largest exporters of coal. Following COP26, Indonesia has committed to being carbon neutral by 2060, or earlier with international support. The agreement comprises 86 concrete action tracks where Denmark and Indonesia have elected to make dedicated efforts – energy transition, waste management, circular economy and food. The Danish-Indonesian collaboration agreement runs from 2021 to 2024 (Press release).

Ørsted purchases 302 MW of US onshore wind: Will supply McDonald’s and Meta

Ørsted has announced the acquisition of Lincoln Land Wind, a 302 MW onshore wind park in Morgan County, Illinois. Ørsted Onshore subsequently took over two Power Purchase Agreements (PPA) with Meta, formerly known as Facebook, and McDonald’s Corporation. Both purchasers have signed long-term PPAs comprising 175 MW and 126 MW green electricity from Lincoln Land Wind. For Ørsted, the acquisition of Lincoln Land Wind is a step towards reaching a total capacity of 17.5 GW by 2030, and an annual increase of capacity of 1.5 GW (Energy Supply).

Hydrogenpro reduces deficit during 3Q21

Hydrogenpro has reduced its deficit during 3Q21, compared to 2Q21, according to a quarterly report.

  • Revenues of NOK 8.2 million during 3Q21 (NOK 0.1 million 2Q21)
  • Net profit of NOK -11.4 million during 3Q21 (NOK -13.1 million 2Q21)
  • Cash position of NOK 443.4 million during 3Q21 (NOK 471.2 million 2Q21)

Hydrogenpro invests in the development of electrolysis facilities that use electricity for producing hydrogen and claims to have several contracts closing in on investment decisions. Additionally, the hydrogen company announced an active pipeline of 8.2 GW, compared to 6.9 GW at the end of 2Q21 (Press release).

Sun4Energy’s offer heavily oversubscribed: Listing on NGM Nordic SME 

Sun4Energy Group AB have announced that its emission of shares was heavily oversubscribed ahead of the planned listing on NGM Nordic SME the 26 November – provided an approved application. The offer allowed the public to purchase a total of 1,000,000 shares at a price of SEK 14 per share, corresponding to SEK 14 million. The liquidity from the offer is to be used for expansion plans through recruitment, expanding organisational functions and other growth investments in line with Sun4Energy’s vision of being the leading solar power company in Sweden. In total, 912 investors have been allocated shares (Press release).  

GreenWave and B4 Plastics awarded Food Planet Prize

The Curt Bergfors Food Planet Prize, established by the Max Hamburgers founder Curt Bergfors, is the world's largest monetary award in the global food sector, with two prizes of $2 million handed out each year. The prize aims to reward innovative solutions that aid in the shift to sustainable food systems – awarded to GreenWave and B4 Plastics for 2021. GreenWave, an ocean farming initiative, pioneered vertical ocean polyculture to produce high yields of seaweed and shellfish with a low environmental footprint. The farming system aims at restoring marine ecosystems, strengthening food systems and can enable the creation of millions of jobs, according to the organisation. GreenWave will invest the prize in accelerating the achievement of its 10-year goal of providing tools, support, and training to a baseline of 10,000 regenerative ocean farms. The other laureate, B4 Plastics, produces biodegradable fishing equipment to help curb the massive problem of plastic pollution in our oceans and subsequently reduce microplastics from entering food systems. The prize sum will be used to boost its GLAUKOS project as an R&D platform to accelerate prototyping and validation of new fishing gear (Press release, press release).
