Vestas has been selected as the preferred wind turbine supplier for the 2.1 GW offshore wind projects in the USA, under the Empire Wind banner. Empire Wind is a joint venture between a subsidiary of the Norwegian energy company Equinor and BP Energy. The agreement regards 138 wind turbines supplied by Vestas for Empire Wind 1 and Empire Wind 2 offshore wind projects in New York and marks one of the largest preferred supplier agreements announced in the USA. In addition to the wind turbines, Vestas will deliver a multi-year solution to serve the wind farm once operational. Vestas announced that it would install a 280-metres tall prototype at the Østerild National test centre which will operate in 4Q22 (Press release, Renew Economy).
DB Schenker in Norway has announced new and ambitious climate goals to make all of their land transportation 100% climate neutral by 2027 – one of several environmental measures to meet UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDG). The strategy of reducing CO2 emissions from DB Schenker’s operations includes a replacement of their transportation fleet from diesel-fuelled vehicles to both electrical- and biogas vehicles, as well as increasing the share of goods transported on railways. Additionally, they expect an introduction of hydrogen in parts of their transportation fleet after meeting their climate goals by 2027 (Press release).
Fasadgruppen Group AB has signed a collaboration agreement with Svea Solar regarding solar cell installations in connection with building façades. During the three-year agreement, Svea Solar will provide solar cell installations to Fasadgruppen for the renovation of façades, with the two companies believing that this will satisfy increasing demand for such products.
