RES and Alight have announced that the two companies will collaborate to develop and deliver Nordic solar energy projects. The partners intend to accelerate the green energy transition, mostly through solar energy projects in the central and southern parts of Sweden. The goal of the partnership is to develop a total of 200-300 MW in large-scale solar energy projects within the coming years.
The Danish renewable energy giant Ørsted is partnering up with ARK Nature, one of the founding partners of Rewilding Europe, to explore the opportunities of “rewilding” the North Sea. Ørsted and ARK Nature will test the potential of the latter’s rewilding principles in restoring vital ocean biodiversity and will begin with an effort to restore shellfish reefs in the North Sea, where a marine field lab will be established. Ultimately, Ørsted and ARK Nature strive towards having their approach applied at a larger scale around the globe.
On 16 May, Denmark and Australia’s New South Wales (NSW) state government announced that the two countries have signed an initial agreement to share research on strategies to transition their economies to net-zero GHG emissions by 2050. The agreement will support collaboration between the two Governments on innovation, policy and programme design as well as trade, investment and technology.
Oulun Energia is investing in climate mitigation by incorporating its circular economy business into the new Finnish Syklo company. The goal with Syklo is to generate strong growth in circular economy activities and initiate investments in the development of new innovations both nationally and internationally. Syklo will offer companies waste reception, treatment and further processing services in Finland to increase the recycling and reuse rate of trade and construction waste through solutions aimed at closing the cycles of materials and re-using low-value biofuels to produce carbon-binding products.
In 2018, the EU-funded project HySTOC EU was launched with the mission of investigating hydrogen logistics and storage in an industrial environment. HySTOC EU has now been successfully completed, having achieved all of the objectives of the project, including the requirements of the standard for hydrogen purity. The success of the project will help enable significant benefits to be achieved in the safe and economical transport and storage of hydrogen.
The company’s 2021 successful report shows a 150% revenue increase and four complete business areas within green hydrogen. CEO of Metacon, Christer Wikner, commented on the report by stating that “We are more than doubling revenues in a short time and are now nearing the end of our Year of Build. I look forward to an expansive phase ahead during the coming Year of Launch.”
SENS presents its first quarter with net sales amounting to SEK 8.5 million, which is flat with 1Q21. The company’s EBITDA results show positive development as it went from SEK -5.9 in 1Q21 to SEK -3.0 million in 1Q22. Since the end of 1Q22, SENS has, among other things, announced that the SEK 28 million project for Catena in Årsta and Linköping is progressing and is expected to be completed during 2Q22.
Soltech Energy Sweden AB has made a supplementary acquisition and acquired 100% of the shares in the electricity company Trönninge Elektriska AB. Starting on 1 June, Trönninge El will be part of the wholly-owned subsidiary Provektor Sweden AB. The acquired company is expected to contribute approximately SEK 11 million in sales during 2022 and the acquisition is financed entirely from Soltech’s own capital and newly issued Soltech shares.
The Swedish Armed Forces (Sw. Försvarsmakten) have previously delayed the construction of H2 Green Steel’s new steelworks in Boden due to its strategic location for Sweden’s national security. However, the Armed Forces have now reversed their decision and will approve the permits for the steel company’s planned activities. The only condition is that H2 Green Steel must plan the construction phase together with representatives from the Armed Forces and that the two parties must hold regular meetings in order to plan how the work will be carried out in detail.
