Korkia launches renewable energy fund 

Korkia, a Finnish investment and expert company, specialising in sustainable growth, has started selling the Korkia Renewable Energy Ky fund. The new fund will invest mainly in European renewable energy project development companies, which differs from typical funds investing in the construction and operational phases. Focusing on the development phase of projects provides the fund with an annual return potential of 10%. The fund’s minimum investment is EUR 50,000 for private investors and EUR 100,000 for professional investors.

Unique hydrogen storage in Luleå takes shape

The construction of the HYBRIT rock chamber storage for fossil-free hydrogen in Luleå, has reached half-way, with the steel liner inside Svartöberget now being assembled. The storage facility, which will be an important part of the value-chain for fossil-free iron and steel production, is planned to be put into operation by the summer. The HYBRIT project, a venture by SSAB, LKAB and Vattenfall will contribute to reducing Sweden’s carbon dioxide emissions by 10% and Finland’s by 7%.

Hynion and Hyrex launch a floating hydrogen filling station for recreational boats

Hynion AS and Hyrex AS started a JV last year to establish hydrogen filling stations for refuelling recreational boats with zero-emission fuel. The liquid hydrogen station will enable ports and marinas to offer zero-emission fuels to the shipping sector. The construction of the floating pilot station will serve the Hyrex 28 prototype during testing in the summer of 2022.

Sweden’s Eolus hit hard by delays in 2021

While other companies thrived during 2021 due to the high energy prices, Eolus, a wind power developer, ran against the trend by landing a modest progress in revenue and negative operations and bottom line. The company’s net revenue amounted to SEK 2.6 billion in 2021, compared to their net revenue of SEK 2.5 billion in 2020.
