Södra is one of Sweden’s largest forestry companies. Several of Södra's bio-based products are now being launched with a “fossil-free value chain”. They were developed without the use of fossil energy and are Södra's new investment in a fossil-free society. Fossil freedom in Södra's products is guaranteed through mass balance - often used in environmental analyzes - and verified by third parties. The product categories where Södra now offers fossil-fuel-free products are cross-glued wood and various energy products that have been produced and transported without fossil-free fuels throughout the value chain.
The first customer is energy company Kalmar Energi. Henrik Brodin. Project Manager for A Fossil-Free Södra said “Developing and offering fossil fuel-free products from the forest is the next step in the transition. This is the result of long-term work and we will continue to develop our fossil-free offering. More players will then be able to switch to fossil-free production when the world and the climate face more difficult challenges than ever.” (Bransch Aktuellt)
PensionDanmark will be a new minority investor in Stiesdal,a Danish cleantech developer. Stiesdal's four technologies all have the potential to contribute to the achievement of the global climate goals. For example, the company's floating foundations can make it possible to install offshore wind turbines regardless of the sea depth. Stiesdal has also developed technology for energy storage, PtX technology and pyrolysis plants for both capture and storage of CO2 from the atmosphere and production of green fuels
During 2021, Stiesdal expects to install a demo project with one of its floating foundations off the coast of Norway with funding from Shell, RWE and Japan's largest utility company, Tepco. (Metal Supply)

Everfuel A / S has announced plans for Phase II development of the HySynergy project at the refinery in Fredericia, with 300 MW of electrolysis and Power-to-X (PtX) plant. Upon its establishment, the plant will have the capacity to reduce the Danish land transport sector's CO2 emissions by 5% in 2025, contributing to the Danish government's goal of reducing CO2 emissions by 70% by 2030. About 20% of the green hydrogen produced at the plant will be used directly as pure hydrogen for mobility, while 80% will be allocated as green raw material for the production of other types of fuel.
