Scania has developed a stronger drivetrain for its Hybrid Electric Vehicles (HEVs) and Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicles (PHEVs) which will enable heavy vehicles to run on electricity in more areas of application, such as concrete trucks, dump trucks and refrigerated trucks. Scania has matured in the use of hybrid vehicles with its new drive train, and is slowly phasing out the conventional combustion engine – which is solely used due to its ability to offer longer ranges according to Fredrik Allard, Senior Vice President and Head of E-mobility at Scania (Svensk Åkeritidning).
Vattenfall has increased its focus on its supply chain impact, by setting a new climate target where emissions from goods and services along its supply chain will be halved by 2030. This is one of the measures helping Vattenfall reach its net-zero emissions target by 2040. Today, Vattenfall’s primary sources of emissions along its supply chain are producers of concrete, steel, and other metals as well as logistics. The company’s decisions are supported by the use of Environmental Cost Indicators (ECIs) in the procurement processes, which helps them compare different suppliers (SCM).
The Danish Energy Agency has awarded a DKK 197 million grant to the INEOS-led consortium backing the Greensand carbon capture project in the North Sea. Greensand can store up to 1.5 million tonnes of CO2 annually in depleted oil and gas fields – expected to rise to 8 million tonnes annually by 2030. A TotalEnergie-led project was also awarded another DKK 75 million from the agency for its Project Bifrost, projected to have a storage capacity of about 3 million tonnes of CO2 annually, starting 2027, with a potential of rising to 16 million tonnes annually in a later stage (Reuters).
Helen and Horisont Energi have signed a Letter of Intent (LoI) regarding the collaboration for a hydrogen economy and carbon storage.
