Cherry Hill, New Jersey (April 14, 2023) -Meet Eliana Shukaitis, a first grader at Magnolia Public School. She is also a Girl Scout of Central and Southern New Jersey. Eliana experienced so much more than she bargained for during this year’s Girl Scout cookie sale and the reward came from new friends at the Ronald McDonald House.
Eliana’s mom was never a Girl Scout, but her Grandmother and Aunts were. Eliana asked to become a Girl Scout because she thought it would be fun to do something that they had done- and because she thought it would be fun to go on camping adventures and make new friends.
Well, Eliana has been able to do those things and she also participated in this year’s Girl Scout cookie season. The selling season is winding down and Eliana found that she still had 3 cases of cookies. Her Mom asked her if she wanted to keep selling, purchase the cookies for the family to eat, or purchase the cookies so that they could donate them.
Eliana decided that she wanted to donate the Girl Scout cookies to kids at the Ronald McDonald House. Her Mom was able to arrange the visit and she and her brother delivered the cookies.
Eliana was so amazed by the happiness from the kids at the Ronald McDonald House. They were so happy that Eliana thought of them and that she wanted to give them cookies. Eliana got so much from the experience that she can’t wait to give-back to her community in additional ways.
Eliana’s Mom said that “she is so proud of the leader her daughter is becoming. Girl Scouts has given Eliana the chance to meet great girls, have fun, and make a difference. It’s been a great learning experience.”

Girl Scouts bring their dreams to life and work together to build a better world. Through programs, Girl Scouts of all backgrounds and abilities can be unapologetically themselves as they discover their strengths and rise to meet new challenges—whether they want to climb to the top of a tree or the top of their class, lace up their boots for a hike or advocate for climate justice, or make their first best friends. Backed by trusted adult volunteers, mentors, and millions of alums, Girl Scouts lead the way as they find their voices and make changes that affect the issues most important to them.
