In a display of community service and teamwork, Girl Scout Troop 61038 decided to use a portion of their Girl Scout cookie sales proceeds to make an impact on the community by bringing some local children a joyful Easter.

The Troop, comprised of young girls from the Pitman area, voted to purchase eggs, candy, and small prizes, filling over 3,200 Easter eggs which they donated to Angels Community Outreach. This act of kindness allowed children who might otherwise have missed out on the holiday festivities to enjoy the excitement of an Easter egg hunt.

When asked what this project meant to them, one Girl Scout said, "It meant that more kids were able to experience a part of Easter, and we got to help make that happen." This sentiment reflects the Troop's commitment to making a positive impact in their community.

These Girl Scouts believe their project helped bring joy and celebration to families. "They got to open Easter eggs in a way that they may not normally do it, and they got to celebrate," another Girl Scout explained.

Beyond this community service aspect, the Girl Scouts also enjoy the social element of their cookie sales. "We like giving other people the opportunity to try our cookies, and we like to meet new people," said a Troop member.

Looking forward, Troop 61038 plans to use the balance of their cookie business proceeds for group activities that promise adventure and learning, including camping, rock climbing, carnival visits, archery, and even ax throwing.

These initiatives highlight the dual objectives of the Girl Scout program: fostering personal development and encouraging a spirit of giving. Through their entrepreneurial efforts and community projects, even the youngest Girl Scouts are making a noticeable difference in their communities, embodying the core values of the Girl Scouts.
