[Cherry Hill, New Jersey] – March 2, 2023 – The Girl Scouts of Central and Southern New Jersey (GSCSNJ) announced today it was awarded an American Water Charitable Foundation STEM (science, technology, education, math) Education grant. The Girl Scout programs enabled by this grant will spotlight essential topics, such as water quality, environmental science, ecology, climate change, and sustainability that we should not take lightly. Girl Scouts will also be able to explore the consequences of our actions for animals and ecosystems alike!
“Since 1912, girls have explored, developed, and sharpened their science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) skills through Girl Scouting,” says Ginny Hill, CEO of GSCSNJ. “We are confident that the programs and initiatives we implemented with the help of this grant will serve as a launching pad for our council’s ability to reach more girls in new and exciting ways.”
The STEM Education grant is part of the American Water Charitable Foundation’s Keep Communities Flowing Grant Program. The Foundation is a 501(c)(3) organization established by American Water, the largest publicly traded U.S. water and wastewater utility company, and aims to support high-impact projects and initiatives that further American Water’s commitment to ESG, as well as inclusion, diversity and equity.
“The American Water Charitable Foundation is committed to participating and investing in programs that benefit communities served by American Water,” said Carrie Williams, president, American Water Charitable Foundation. “We are proud to further American Water’s ongoing commitment to being a good neighbor and strong partner in the community.”
