TABERNACLE, N.J. – The Girl Scouts of Central and Southern New Jersey recently welcomed girls of all ages to “Hallowendiwin,” an event at Camp Inawendiwin that brought together Girl Scouts from across the region for a festive, Halloween-themed day of fun, camaraderie, and adventure.
The annual event, organized by Girl Scout staff and an enthusiastic group of volunteers, transformed Camp Inawendiwin into a Halloween wonderland where Girl Scouts could enjoy activities that encouraged creativity, teamwork, and a little bit of spooky excitement. Girl Scouts were greeted with a warm welcome as they donned costumes or opted for comfy pajamas, each one ready to dive into the Halloween spirit in their own way.
Baylee, Liliana, and Shoshanna from Troop 20891 in Burlington Township had a fightfully good time!
Among the day’s highlights was the haunted hayride, which drew girls from every age group. Navigating through the camp’s winding trails, the hayride offered spooky sights for those looking for a thrill, while remaining suitable for younger Girl Scouts or those seeking a gentler experience. Campfires set up around the grounds created cozy gathering spots where Girl Scouts could settle in with friends, old and new, to watch a Halloween movie and relax between activities.
For those with a creative streak, the event featured pumpkin painting stations where each Girl Scout could put their own twist on a traditional Halloween decoration. At snack-making tables, girls got hands-on experience crafting eerie-themed treats, from ghostly cupcakes to creepy-crawly cookies, letting them indulge their imagination and taste buds alike.
In keeping with the spirit of adventure, “Hallowendiwin” featured a unique “secret password” challenge that kept the Girl Scouts engaged as they moved from one activity to the next. By collecting clues at each station, girls had the chance to solve the puzzle and win Halloween-themed prizes, adding an extra layer of excitement to the day.
Every participant received a Halloween Fun Patch as a memento, symbolizing the sense of community and shared experiences that are at the heart of Girl Scouting. The event allowed Girl Scouts of different ages and Troops to connect, fostering friendships that continue well beyond camp.
“We’re thrilled to see so many Girl Scouts here, celebrating the season together,” said Ginny Hill, CEO of Girl Scouts of Central and Southern New Jersey. “Events like Hallowendiwin give girls a chance to explore their creativity, make memories, and build connections across Troops. It’s wonderful to see them all having a great time, whether they’re painting pumpkins or enjoying the haunted hayride.”

The camp’s wooded trails, open fields, and welcoming environment created the perfect setting for girls to step into a world of Halloween fun in a safe, supportive space.
As “Hallowendiwin” drew to a close, Girl Scouts left Camp Inawendiwin with smiles, new friendships, and a renewed sense of connection to their Girl Scout community.
