Tamron introduces the 12-20mm F2.8, a fast ultra-wide-angle zoom for Sony E-mount and Nikon Z mount full-frame mirrorless cameras. The new lens combines a lightweight design with advanced optical construction, making it suited to landscapes, interiors, architecture and night scenes.

The 12mm wide end captures large scenes, dramatic interiors and open landscapes, while the constant F2.8 aperture supports low-light work and adds flexibility for stills and video.

At its core is an optical construction of 17 elements in 12 groups, including one XGM (eXpanded Glass Molded Aspherical) element, three GM (Glass Molded Aspherical) elements and multiple special elements. Together they reduce peripheral blur and color fringing for sharp, clear results from centre to edge. The design also corrects sagittal coma flare, a common challenge with stars and night scenes, making the lens a strong choice for astrophotography and night landscapes.

Despite its ultra-wide range and bright F2.8 aperture, the lens remains easy to carry, with the Sony E-mount weighing only 570g.

Autofocus is powered by Tamron's VXD linear motor focus mechanism for fast, precise and quiet focusing in both photography and video. Close focusing reaches a minimum object distance of 0.18m at the wide end and 0.28m at the tele end, allowing strong foreground impact with an ultra-wide perspective.

The 12-20mm F2.8 also includes an integrated rear filter holder, a 12-blade circular diaphragm, moisture-resistant construction and a fluorine coating. It is compatible with Tamron Lens Utility for custom settings in both still and video work.
