Samyang adds 135mm to the popular VDSLR MK2 series - a series of cinema lenses for filmmakers who want to keep a lower budget while maintaining a high standard of quality.
The new VDSLR 135mm T2.2 MK2 is perfect for close-ups and interviews where it provides perfect sharpness with a pleasant background blur.
Samyang pioneered the entry-point cine lens line-up by launching its VDSLR series range back in 2014 and it has been a staple set for independent filmmakers ever since. During those six years Samyang has worked close to content creators all over the world to evolve the VDSL MK2 series that saw its first glimpse of light last year.
The series now contains The MK2 set now comprises 6 of the most-used focal lengths: 14mm T3.1, 24mm T1.5, 35mm T1.5, 50mm T1.5, 85mm T1.5 and the new 135mm T2.2.
The new VDSLR 135mm T2.2 MK2 is lightweight but sturdy and measures 12.2cm in length and weighs 866.4g.
The lens is weather-sealed, and housing is all aluminium. The side of the lens have distance scales that are readable from both sides, as are the focal lengths.
Both focus and aperture rings are de-clicked and works great with most follow focus. The long focus throw of over 130° enables cinematographers to focus precisely on their subjects, creating a more professional feel to the footage than with regular autofocus photo lenses.
Just like previous lenses in the VDSLR MK2 series the 135mm feature a nine-bladed aperture that creates an astonishing bokeh and helps to separate the subject from the background.
Optical construction consists of 11 elements in 7 groups.
With the adding of 135mm to the series the VDSLR MK2 now contains the essential and most popular focal lengths for any creative or commercial projects. All 6 lenses are available and fully compatible with 6 different mounts: Canon EF, Sony E, Nikon F, Canon M, Fuji X and MFT. They are suitable for both DSLR and mirrorless systems and ready to support all types of filmmakers around the globe.
