Ricoh Imaging has announced the development of the RICOH GR IVx, a new high-end digital compact camera equipped with a newly developed GR lens offering a 40mm-equivalent standard angle of view.
The GR IVx expands on the RICOH GR IV with a different photographic perspective. Its 40mm-equivalent focal length provides an angle of view close to effective human vision, compared with the 28mm-equivalent wide-angle lens of the GR IV, opening up new possibilities for snapshot photography.
The newly developed lens has an optical construction of eight elements in six groups, including three aspherical elements, with an aperture range of F2.8 to F16. The camera uses an APS-C-size CMOS sensor with approximately 25.74 megapixels and five-axis sensor-shift image stabilization.
Ricoh also plans to introduce additional new functions, with further information to be presented at the official announcement.
The RICOH GR IVx is currently under development and is planned for release in winter 2026 or later. Specifications and design are subject to change before launch.
