Designed with the dynamic needs of content creators in mind, the new Panasonic Lumix S9 is a powerhouse of advanced features packed into a compact and portable design.
Despite its small size, the Lumix S9 boasts an impressive array of capabilities, including 5-axis image stabilization, rapid PDAF autofocus, Real-Time LUT functionality, and the ability to record video in Open Gate format. This combination of features ensures that content creators can capture stunning visuals with ease and precision.
The new camera features a 24.2-megapixel full-frame CMOS sensor and an advanced processing engine that together produce rich, detailed images with pristine tones. The advanced PDAF (Phase Detection Auto-Focus) system provides superior subject tracking, while the Active I.S. (Image Stabilization) significantly reduces blurring from camera shake, allowing for confident handheld shooting in any situation. The camera's built-in 5-stop 5-axis stabilization system (up to 6.5 stops with selected lenses) ensures smooth, shake-free footage, even when shooting handheld. This advanced stabilization allows for the use of slower shutter speeds, resulting in razor-sharp images.
In conjunction with the launch, Panasonic is also introducing a new video format, MP4 Lite. Shooting Open Gate in 4:2:0 10 bit in 30p/25p, creators can capture high quality videos in the optimum format for smartphone, and easily resize aspect ratios to suit social media with the new Lumix Lab app. With this new streamlined editing workflow, content creators can easily shoot and share while on the go.
The camera also features a Real-Time LUT function, accessible via a new dedicated 'LUT' button on the camera body, allowing creators to apply a range of popular, classic, or custom color styles in-camera. With the new Lumix Lab app enables creators to develop their own unique LUT color files on their smartphones. This means users can effortlessly generate original and shareable stills and videos without the need of post-production editing on a computer, expanding the scope of creative possibilities. The speed of transferring data from camera to smartphone has also been improved with the new app.
With the introduction of the new camera, Panasonic introduces a new pancake lens that is a perfect match with the new camera, a new ultra-compact wide angle of 26mm with a fixed F-stop of f/8. The new lens is just 18mm long and weighs only 58g. Also under development is a new compact all-round zoom, the Lumix S 18-40mm F4.5-6.3.
The camera is available in four stylish colors – Jet Black, Crimson Red, Dark Olive, and Classical Blue.
