Panasonic introduces new full-frame hybrid cameras for professionals

Panasonic expands its full-frame lineup with the launch of two new hybrid cameras, the Lumix S1II and S1IIE, designed to meet the needs of both professionals and advanced content creators.

Both models deliver exceptional photo and video capabilities, featuring advanced autofocus with AI-driven subject recognition and intuitive, refined handling. The LUMIX S1II is built for high-speed performance and wide dynamic range, making it ideal for professional production environments. The S1IIE, meanwhile, offers a more streamlined design tailored to content creators seeking flexibility and high-quality results across a variety of shooting scenarios.

Lumix S1II is a high-performance full-frame mirrorless camera designed to meet the demands of professional photographers and videographers. Built around a newly developed 24.1MP partially stacked CMOS sensor and powered by the advanced Venus Engine, the LUMIX S1II delivers exceptional speed, resolution, and dynamic range across both stills and video.

The new camera offers blackout-free shooting at up to 70 fps and high-speed video recording up to 5.1K 60p or 4K 120p, the S1II redefines workflow flexibility. Its Dynamic Range Boost mode achieves an impressive 15 stops of dynamic range in V-Log (at frame rates below 30p), while features like SH pre-burst and Hybrid/Crop Zoom ensure precise, versatile capture of fast-moving subjects.

The Lumix S1II also supports Panasonic’s first Open Gate 5.1K recording and is compatible with ARRI LogC3 via the DMW-SFU3A Upgrade Key (delivery date TBA), expanding its professional-grade video capabilities. With advanced Phase Hybrid AF, new AI-driven subject tracking—including a mode optimized for urban sports—and refined operability, this camera is tailored for the next level of creative production.

The Lumix S1IIE is crafted for content creators and advanced enthusiasts who demand professional-level performance in a compact, versatile design. Inheriting the trusted ergonomics of the S1II and S1RII, the S1IIE combines exceptional imaging power with a streamlined workflow experience.

At its core is a 24.2MP BSI full-frame sensor paired with the latest L² Technology engine, delivering vibrant color accuracy, sharp detail, and 6K video recording with over 14 stops of dynamic range. Creators can now capture stunning footage in new formats, including Cinemascope (2.4:1) and Open Gate, without cropping. Support for ARRI LogC3 (via Upgrade Key DMW-SFU3A) and internal Apple ProRes RAW recording extends its cinematic potential.

The S1IIE also features an advanced Phase Hybrid AF system with AI-driven subject recognition, including a new ‘Urban Sports’ mode designed for fast, dynamic movements. An 8-stop (+Active I.S) image stabilization system and distortion-free electronic stabilization make handheld shooting smooth and reliable, even in challenging conditions.

Just like the Lumix S1II the S1IIE offers seamless compatibility with platforms like LUMIX Lab, Frame.io, and Capture One, as well as proxy recording for efficient editing. This camera is ideal for creators seeking a refined, high-performance camera to elevate their storytelling.

In conjunction with the release of the new Lumix cameras, Panasonic also introduces the Lumix S 24-60mm F/2.8, a compact and lightweight, premium zoom lens with a constant F2.8 aperture across a versatile 24 to 60mm range. Ideal for landscapes, architecture, and portraits, it delivers high-resolution performance and smooth, creamy bokeh in a highly portable form. With silent focusing, suppressed focus breathing, and a close focusing distance of just 0.19 meters, it is also well-suited for video work. Its durable, weather-resistant build ensures dependable performance across a wide range of creative environments.

As part of the launch offer, customers who register the new LUMIX S cameras or Panasonic S lenses with Panasonic by June 30, 2026, will receive an extended 5-year warranty. This offer also applies to the previously released S1RII model.
